Rug to go with this wallpaper?

I'm putting this wallpaper on one wall and painting the other 3 a very dark gray (almost black) in my home office. I'd like something more fun than just a solid color rug. Any suggestions?? Thx!

This could look cute with a solid color but in a fun, bright shade and something textural for the rug.

I think any pattern would have to be pretty large-scale to not lose the punch of the wallpaper. Sort of depends on your style...

This yellow flower one is probably too creamy on the back to stand up to the white in your wallpaper, but the style could work if you can find something similar

Hi all - update: I used Cloud 9 by benjamin moore for the walls - it's a gray-based white, which goes with the background of the wallpaper (not yet up). It's very pretty and also goes well with my faux reclaimed wood vinyl flooring. I'll keep you posted! Thanks for the input!!

Wallpaper over vinyl, or wallpaper over paper backing/paste?

I don't think I can get the paper wallpaper backing/wallpaper paste to release from the paper coating of the faux wood paneling. They've essentially fused to become one. If I try to remove all of the paper, and clean it, I'm certain I will end up with badly damaged paneling. I really think the only options are paper over paper, or paper over paste. I just need help understanding which is best of these two options.

I'm not understanding the question. Where is the "nook"? The nook has the damask rug, or the "entrance" leads to the space with the damask rug. Either way...........you tone paint TO a wallpaper. You're trying to do it in reverse : ) If the main space is highly visible from the nook? I doubt you need a pattern competing with the rug. Paint it a complimentary blue, add the necessary element for any mud space. Or look into vinyl grass cloth, alal Phillip Jeffries..............too many to even view online

Sorry to hear about your experience. Mine is/was similar. I found several layers of wallpaper, with a skim coat in between, and then under that, it seems to have been applied directly to drywall. I have removed a lot of wallpaper in the past, but I ended up damaging the drywall in one room so badly, we decided to hire someone. I had several contractors come through who looked at the amount of wallpaper and wouldn't do it! One guy was willing and he starts this morning so I will see what magic he uses. If he has any tips, I will share.
