bosch vision 500 series update/vibration pucks & stall mat
Comments (2)All I can say is I tried a dense rubber mat similar to a stall mat on my new stacked Bosch Axxis set and it caused vibration. In the case with these units, the harder the floor's surface, the better.... as long as all 4 feet are solid on the floor....See MoreAdding a shower stall or not?
Comments (8)If it busts the budget, no. But I would have grab bars added to your current bathroom both in tub and near stool. Since you are remodeling anyway look at suggestions for handicap/disabled bathrooms. You will want the door wider and area around the stool for an assistant to stand. My sister in law was with us for several weeks before her daughter could find a place for her mother in the state she lived in. It was very difficult to give her the necessary personal attention when you had to lean over the person. In giving this additional space it may be necessary to enlarge the bathroom. If you have any retirement/assisted living/or even active elderly housing in your area you might want to visit to see what is available. We looked at some of the over 50 villa's and were amazed at how friendly the bathrooms and kitchens have become for those with physical problems. My doctor occasionally tells me to take hot baths to relieve muscle problems. The older women that exercise at the Y with my husband who have removed the tub in favor of a shower wish they had it back....See MoreShower tile design dilemma - please vote!
Comments (9)Neither. 1. Continue the pattern all the way around the projecting wall, or 2. If you are using a solid surface on top of the threshold (to match the countertop), use the same material for the end of the projecting wall, all the way up. You would not need any bullnose in that case. I would absolutely, in no case, use a piece of molding there. It would look like what it is: a piece of molding slapped in place after the fact because no thought was put into the planning ahead of time, and "hey, let's just cover it up with a quick and dirty piece of molding". How are you planning on detailing the top of that projection?...See MoreFireplace Update Stalled Due to Indecision, Advice Needed
Comments (8)Since it appears that the original fireplace is a woodburner with gas logs installed, you need to keep a non-combustible hearth extension, You can cover up all of the exposed sheet metal on the fireplace, which will give you more of a low-slung, linear look like you show in your "after paint" photo, but anything that covers the face of the fireplace must be non-combustible. If that 's drywall I see on there, it needs to come off. Unless you have a specific purpose for shelves on that wall, get rid of them in your design. Let form follow function. The size, height and arrangement should be connected strongly to your purpose. Stone always looks better al the way up to the ceiling. I would only go somewhat wider than the fireplace to create a strong focal point. Unless you have a mid-centruy modern aesthetic you're working with, placing stone on the whole wall will make the texture less special, Since your fireplace is already raised off of the floor, I recommend against placing the TV over it, not because of the height of the TV, but because it will be an awkward fit. Come up with a side-by-side arrangement you both can live with....See Morekaymanuel
