Fridge and Range next to each other & handles don't match..
Comments (13)Sorry for not posting back until now; all our things are finally moved into our new home. Now to clean the old one so we can get renters! Thank you all for your opinions and advice! I did go ahead and order the Kenmore range. I considered a GE range, but in the end, I would have had to pay almost 2xs as much for a similarly featured range. I did research through consumer reports, and for 2013, GE and Frigidaire tied for first, for brand reliability in the gas range category. Kenmore was just one point behind. I also have a Kenmore range in my old home (don't know if it was made by Frigidaire at that time), and it is at least 12 years old. It doesn't look pretty, but everything is still functioning well. Anyway, for the price I couldn't justify the GE purchase. There are both good and bad reviews for both brands. It seems you either luck out with a good appliance, or a problematic one, in either case! Thanks again!...See MoreFridge Next To Windows???
Comments (15)Note that your Fridge will not really be 27" deep unless you buy a super expensive model like Liebherr. Even counter-depth models are generally 30" deep for the box, 33" including handles. That really will encroach on your aisle space, so I'm thirding Annie's suggestions. Also, consider making the existing sink a prep sink (no DW) and putting the cleanup sink and DW under the big windows to the right. If that sink is not existing, put it in the island instead. This would nicely separate your prep zone from your cleanup and dish storage zone. I would then move the tall cabinet next to the Fridge and wrap the new counter where the cleanup sink is around the corner to meet your shallow cabinetry....See MoreIs there any way to fit a shallow cabinet next to fridge?
Comments (8)Well, that depends on how deep that wall will be. I would suggest checking the specs on your fridge to see how much depth you need to cover the body plus clearance, then see how deep the vanity is (I think 22 inches might be standard counter depth?) then subtract standard wall thickness and see what you have left. There will be plumbing and electric to work around. Here's what's behind my sink, I assume you would have something similar. You can see the two pipes coming up for the sink, and there is also a junction box up higher that isn't in there yet for the light. If you have plumbing above, you might have pipes that run all the way up....See MoreHelp with windows next to range hood
Comments (34)This excerpt is from the 'zones' portion of buehl's thread, and goes into a little more detail about DW placement: Cleanup Zone...works best when separated from the Prep & Cooking Zones. This can be on the opposite side of a one-sink kitchen from the Prep Zone or it could be in a completely separate location (the latter usually only works well if you have two sinks). Obviously, it also needs a water source and the DW. When the Prep and Cleanup Zones share a sink, the DW should be on the Cleanup Zone side of the sink, not the Prep Zone side. I like wilson853's suggestion of a pull-out to separate the fridge and DW, and if you plan to have your main prep on the island, you can put a trash pull-out on the cooktop end of the island, where it will be close enough to be shared by all zones. Where are you planning to store your dishes?...See MorePrisci Lauda
