Comments (7)So glad you removed the shutters. They don't belong on your 1960s ranch home, even if they were put there by the original builder. Here are two articles to show you why: Shutters vs Shudders More detail about Shutters from Old House Guy I agree with you - no craftsman door. I will look for a door that is suitable for your ranch and others will jump in too :) The biggest improvement you can make is your landscaping. It is all jammed up against your house. Find a landscape designer to put together a plan for you that you can implement over time as your budget allows. Right now your landscaping acts as a barrier and not a sign of 'welcome home'. Wide & deep landscape beds with a wide entrance walkway open up your home. Good call on the black roof color for your new roof. Exciting times ahead!...See MoreShuddering at choosing a shutter color!
Comments (10)Please do not do the drk gray siding it in no way works with that stone I would leave the white siding and do probably brown shutters with that stone but I actually think the house looks better without them . After you get used to that look and with the new landscaping if you still think you need them you can always add them. I would make the entry the focal point with a wider stoop some nice big plant pots on either side of the stoop and no storm door a new light fixture. The way your entry is you really do not need a storm door and if you like a screen get a phantom one so you don’t hide the door .How about a mailbox on a stand near the entry to your yard....See MoreI need help choosing a roof color, shutter color, new door style
Comments (6)Remove the shutters they actually detract form the windows the house is such a mish mash of styles i would keep the front door a simple one painted the same as the house that entry has so much going on no need for anything else.IMO the front porch is all wrong for the house and I would remove it and replace the doors with a large window to make it look like it was never a porch.Sorry but the architect that designed this house should get another job....See MoreJennifer
