Hi again Pipdog -- The deeper blue-greens will also work well with your red cedar fence and walnut "innards", but you'll definitely have a higher-contrast look against the siding (and interior walls). Since whatever color you pick will look very different seen from the outside (shaded area) vs inside (tons of natural light!), do you want to love it *most* from the front or when it's seen against the inside? If "from the outside" -- it sounds like you all tested at least a few deeper muted shades and didn't like how they looked? I worry those gorgeous mock-ups above wouldn't translate to how the color looks on your door as seen from the front, but it's all about how the light hits. Generally in a darker space if you want to stay muted while still getting pop, you're going to have amp things up with deep warm yellow-orange shades. Then if those don't appeal ...warm brights if you're open to them. In this photo, you can really see which shades jump out from the dark background. It may help you get an idea of how for the blue-greens it might work better to skew more toward a turquoise than peacock. Another example -- brighter vs deeper greens in context of each other. You see which shades jump out and which recede. If you want your door to come forward, I'd test colors that are lighter and brighter vs those awesome moody deep natural or oceanic ones. [And I still think your first instinct of a medium seafoam could work well.] Don't know how that jives with your preferences and goals for the house. Let's get woowoo for a minute: what kind of energy do you want that front door to convey? Relaxing retreat or tropical vibrancy behind this door? [You could always go the easy route and pull from your sky color for a fairly intense sapphire!]

beef up those posts w/cedar. you could wrap what you have. Something along this size. (or wrap them in the white,,,either will work) I would paint the trim around your windows with a darker color (charcoal, black, bronze/brown) to give it some contrast. Can you look on Craigslist for another door (if you're on a budget)? something with some glass, perhaps? For instance, w/this door color, I'd do all of the trim and fascia in the same tone. stain the cedar posts a bit darker, paint the bricks the same color as your siding and perhaps tile that cement porch. It would look like a whole new space.

Pratt & Lambert have a few interesting yellows ... cassava & buttery. I’d steer clear of anything too intense & “taxi cab” looking.

Well, you will receive more suitable responses if you share where you are, what zone; is it full sun or partially shaded? What direction of sun exposure? How extreme might reflected and radiated heat from patio or pool decking be? How tall and wide would you prefer? There is a ton of difference between miniatures that top out at 18" and Gloire des Rosomanes which can grow 8' (or more). Is scent important at all? How "red" do you want it? Dark pink, brilliant red, orange-red...? What are the disease pressures and issues where you are and how likely are you to spray against fungal issues? There are MANY questions left unanswered, making the ubiquitous answer, "Knock Out" as valid as any other. But, with some insight into some of the above variables, I'm sure you will receive some creative responses.
