Wondering if Covid-19 will stop any military conflicts?
Comments (8)I'm the OP of this thread, which was posted almost a week ago. I just saw this article, which I guess answers my thread headline question. It appears that no current American presence in active conflicts overseas, are being curtailed, but rather that military troops will be taking the best measures they can, to avoid becoming exposed to the Covid-19. My opening paragraph for this thread, referenced how the ongoing fighting in World War I, allowed the Spanish Flu to spread among the soldiers, who lived and fought in close quarters, for 10 months, before the war finally ended. Then the soldiers who had been exposed, but didn't die, returned home, unknowingly spreading the virus further, throughout America. So in learning that American military personnel in conflicts abroad, will remain on active duty there, I give my sincere hope that all of those men and women who may be fighting two battles at the same time, one visually apparent and the other invisible, will return home eventually, safe and healthy. My heart goes out to them all, especially the 13,000 troops serving in Afghanistan, as it is shares a border with Iran, where Covid-19 is so prevalent. Please know that if your family members are in service overseas, they are not forgotten. https://thehill.com/policy/defense/487700-pentagon-confronts-coronavirus-as-global-conflicts-rage...See MoreHow Will the Current Shortages Affect your Future Shopping Behavior
Comments (92)I'm doing limited shopping. Costco twice in 6 months, Target only curbside, food co-op every six weeks, Farmer's Market every 2 weeks and Trader Joes every 2 or 3 weeks. A local high-end grocery every 10 days or so. Haven't found paper products that I prefer, because I used to buy them at Target but they won't deliver or do curbside and I'm not going inside. Someone posted (here?) about Staples having TP, so I looked at they had the Scott 1 ply I need for my septic, but they had their own house brand that looks identical for much less $$, so I bought 2 packs of 20 rolls. Delivered in 1 day for free. They also had some sanitizing wipes (their brand) and a free hand sanitizer if you spent more than $30. I have NEVER been able to make their website work for me, so I ended up in a chat, then a phone convo, but it all worked out. I should be good for many months....See MoreHow is your COVID-19 reopening going?
Comments (132)If Ohio's reported cases are declining in the metro areas, that's wonderful. In the mostly rural southern and southeastern counties that had only a few early cases, new cases seem to be on a slow increase. Vinton was the last to have no reported cases, then in the last weeks they've jumped to 16. That might reflect testing for someone's whole family, co-workers, a nursing home--I don't know the details--and I know that seems to be a small number compared to other areas. Kathsgrdn, I have been very impressed with KY's stats (as well as WV's). We have relatives in a KY county which borders the river, and one of my brothers works in WV, so I check their stats often. My father is ecstatic that the local Bob Evans is opening for inside dining tomorrow. I'm not so thrilled, since he is 83 and won't wear a mask or properly distance himself from others. ETA, here's our 21-day trend--unfortunately up almost 250 more cases than yesterday (484):...See MoreMy most recent questions re: Covid 19
Comments (24)#1 Any germies on the mask came from you. I have one mask in my car I wear only when inside a building. Don't make this a prison. Calm down. Getting over paranoid is a waste of energy. #2 Yes you are safe to play with your dog. You always were. If you encounter a neighbor's dog and wish to pet it--do. Upon return to your home it is always good practice to wash your hands and keep them away from your face. #3 It is an airborne virus. It is virulent before people have symptoms. Wear your mask. Wash your hands. Stay home as a matter of lifestyle. Business have to start up..but that does't mean we should be willy nilly about leaving home. #4 Remember we stay home to slooow down who gets ill. NO ONE said this would save lives, they said they wanted to flatten the curve meaning decrease who is sick at any given time, so hospitals can deal with the worst cases and not lose people due to not being able to treat them. People spreading this I hope are unaware they have it because they are silent carriers or they aren't yet feeling ill. Which is why EVERYONE ALWAYS should wear a mask when inside a building. It helps all of us!!...See Moreworthy
