I don’t know how to properly set up my living room.
Comments (9)Good evening, I’ve added some more pictures to get the whole picture. the layout is that you come in my kitchen door into the kitchen and dining and then an L shape into the living room. The demensions are as follows:left wall with the fireplace is 4 feet wall to the fireplace, 5 foot fireplace then 7 foot wall to the end of the room. The back wall has the windowed centered, window is 6 feet with 4 feet on with side, the right hand wall starting form the end of the room is 10 feet then the big window of 8 feet., then 10 foot wall to the end of the room.part of this wall is actually part of my dining room. I hope this makes sense. Let me know if it doesn’t. As you can see nothing is really centered except the window at the end of the room. I have beautiful views from all my windows, so really don’t want o be facing the fireplace all the time...thank you sooo much. N...See MoreWhat would you do to lighten up room. Comments (8)You do have alot of light in this room. I love the pics and suggestions everyone has posted. It is a large room with all the wrong furniture. The ceiling is beautiful and it would be awful to paint it. I too own a log cabin and there never seems to be enough lighting. Without white ceiling or white walls light does not reflect. It just seems to get absorbed and the larger the room the more difficult it is to light. Are the ceiling fans necessary? Do you have central air? What is your climate like? If you find that you dont use them can you switch them out for a track light or directional light?...See MoreHow can I warm up My Living Room
Comments (6)The problem in your room is the terrible quality of like from that fan light. Turn it off and NEVER TURN IN ON AGAIN. I would take advantage of the lamps you have on your mantel and the piano. See if there is space for a small floor lamp next to the leather chair in the corner. Consider fishing the electrical cord under the rug to activate small floor lamps that can be placed next to your sofa. This floor lamp slides under the edge of seating to be very minimal in the room. https://www.crateandbarrel.com/clare-antiqued-bronze-floor-lamp/s406236 Replace the fan with a ceiling fixture. Comments (34)winendine5- You do not enough space for an area rug in that dining room. You only have exactly enough space for the table and chairs and buffet. Not an extra inch of space. Not a problem, there are plenty of ways to add color to the room. And when you are eating in there, the food adds color as well, in addition to the centerpiece. I don't know if you are going to keep the color of the chair upholstery, but that is easy enough to change if you want, to either a solid or print. I like white or off-white curtains, and you can add a trim on the edges that coordinates with whatever color chair seat you choose. I would suggest eating at the table and sitting at it for a good 2-2.5 hours as you would for a dinner party. Somehow the spokes of the back of the chair don't look particularly comfortable. If they are not, you can have cushions made for the back of the chair. I would also not center the table exactly, move it a bit closer to the windows than the buffet. After all, if chairs bump the window wall, that is an easy fix with spackle and paint. If they bump the buffet, terrible! And be sure to seat your larger guests on the window wall. You can also purchase thing-a ma-bobs with the wool felt for the bottoms of your chairs so they don't mar your wood floors when the chairs are pulled out and pushed in as you won't be having a rug in the room....See Moremnmamax3
