Paint Furniture Design Dilemma

What color should I paint these end tables and dining chairs?

We live on a golf course in over 55 community on Florida's west coast. Love the coastal colors (not really the anchors & pelicans- LOL) and have had fun painting furniture in this house after selling most of what we had when we downsized a year ago.

I just bought these used end tables - the width was perfect, and I like the lines, but as beautiful as they are, color fights with the rustic floors. Wondering if they should go white OR distressed Old Ochre (to match base of coffee table) OR possibly a two tone (white & Old Ochre?) OR ..................What color would make them look "larger"?

I realize medium oak on coffee table top isn't great either, but I LOVE the table (hidden leaves that expand to rectangle) ... have thought about sanding (it's not varnished) and trying to get more of a gray/greige. Thoughts?

Dining chairs are in EXCELLENT SHAPE & also were purchased used. Table was painted Dixie Belle "Fluff". DH says "leave chairs as is", but I'm wondering if painting would add some interest?

Appreciate your thoughts & input. I'm happy ... but having a hard time adding cozziness to this

house.

Are you going to paint the grandfather clock too? Don't be so quick to create a monotone room. I would darken the coffee table top with a gel stain so it works with the darker end tables and clock. HERE is how one person did it. I might also darken the dining chairs.

I'm confused as to how the end tables have the perfect width, but you want them to look larger! Perhaps you are overthinking the design. It looks balanced to me. Live with it for a while.

I don't like the dining tables, and chairs. IMHO they seem to be fighting with each other. The room is very monotone, and needs more color to warm it up.

There is no way to know what the buyer wants in terms of the color of chair they would want or the color of seat. One person may want the unpainted wood and so they would never buy a painted chair. Another would be thrilled with a white painted chair. People may have very specific ideas about the fabric on their chair and it is so easy to recover a chair cushion. As mentioned earlier, these types of chairs are selling for such a low price, and with their matching tables. I would just sell them as is, and people can change them as they wish.

Finding suitable extra chairs is not going to be easy, but test a few out once you have table, so you can get a sense of how (or not) they work. The table should suit the living room and kitchen and the 2 types of chairs; perhaps a modern black oak table with simple lines could work. You may have to include modern elements to find the right balance with living room especially You said you are stuck with the chairs and going to design around them. Seems a shame to restrict table choices and have non-matching chairs. Could end up with an odd mix that doesn’t quite complement rooms either. Maybe consider selling the chairs and you could probably get at least 1/2 their original cost and then start fresh. It will be easier to start with the table and then chairs. Good luck.

I originally was going to post the Graham! But I felt something was "off" with that and the scroll art together. I didn't think of the chairs since the chairs aren't at the same eye level as the art and chandelier would be. Are you attached to the art that it will drive your decision for the chandelier? Based on your photos, it looks like you've been doing well making all your other selections so I'm wondering if the scroll art is throwing you off?

IMO those end tables are very nice and I would not paint them I agree with hubby leave the dining chairs alone but I really wish you had left the table as it was

The table was a mess when I got it...Ethan Allen that someone else attempted to change. I rescued it...
