Benjamin Moore WB Paint + Simply White vs. Chantilly Lace Trims/Doors

I can not decide between Simply White or Chantilly Lace for trims/ceiling/doors to match with BM Wind's Breath main walls paint color. I got the sample paint and Simply White seems to have yellowish tint when paired with WB compared to Chantilly Lace which is more stark white.

I'm doing European white light wood color oak floor. Should I do CL as it is more stark white for more contrast?

I prefer a cleaner white for trim, doors and cabinets in general and that's why I see CL as a better choice especially considering the tone of your floor.

Chantilly Lace and Simpy White both technically work with Wind's Breath. There are no red flags that show up in the notations to indicate that they won't harmonize or go together.

For example, I would do WB on the walls, CL on trim/doors and SW on the ceiling - it's a pretty palette.

Consider the color of the cabinetry throughout the house too to help you make a decision.

@Lori A. Sawaya For main walls, I'm doing WB, but for the bathrooms walls I'm doing BM Calm and Silver Satin to match the tone of the tiles and cabinetry. Is it okay to go from warmer tone rooms into colder tone bathrooms?

@Alice, I too see some yellow in Chantilly Lace in some situations/lighting. @Lori A Sawaya, do you happen to know the spectral data for stock white Cabinet Coat? I have read it described as bluish, or grayish. I'm looking for a white that doesn't look yellow in my laundry room, which has no natural light (or maybe a tiny bit contributing from distant bedroom west window during the day), and is lit with 2 high-CRI Feit LED bulbs. Even with the (relatively?) "high" CRI of the LEDs, colors look vastly different than in rooms with windows -- with yellow greatly intensified. I have found several of the BM colors in this thread, like Super White and White, look pretty much "just white" in my laundry room. I also really like BM White Diamond, which is a little darker (grayer) than Super White. I also have to complain a little bit -- even different BM chips of the SAME color do not match. Here I am agonizing over the differences between colors, when paint coloring technology can't even match its own chips, or different samples of the "same" color closely enough for my eye to see them as the "same" color.

No regrets at all. I think it looks gorgeous, especially since I have white faux dupioni silk drapes in the living room and bedroom and real linen drapes in the family room. (All have blackout lining.) The walls and ceiling are matte, the doors, kitchen cabinets, and trim are semi-gloss and there is glossy too (where I can't think of right now) The different textures are fabulous, especially in the living room where the drapes play off the matte shade. I feel very fortunate because it all works so perfectly together. I have been reading and enjoying various home decor blogs, websites and more for many years and it paid off for me when I was able to make choices quickly and find they were excellent due to a combination of natural talent and a lot of listening to and learning from others.

Oh, I am so sorry! I forgot about this. I will have my friend take pictures when she stops by in a day or two and send them to me to post here. I promise I won't forget by bookmarking this discussion. I can tell you that I just could not be happier. It doesn't appear any other color than neutral white regardless of what direction the sun comes in or if it is at night with drapes closed and lights on. The ever-so-slightly shiny texture of the faux white silk drapes against it looks fantastic too. I'll be back as soon as I can.

@Dawne, you don't bother me. Ask as many questions as You need. Most are 6" ( upper cabinets and some smaller drawers ) and 8" on longer drawers.

Is it okay to go from warmer tone rooms into colder tone bathrooms?

This is personal preference. Mother Nature does this best and it's about balance. Balancing what you perceive to be cooler tones with warmer is a classic, organic color strategy.

Some think it's best to limit the whole house color palette so all colors align as being perceived as warm or cool. Pick a lane and stay in it color philosophy.

I think it's more interesting and human supportive to have a blend of both warm and cool.

I prefer the brighter white for the trim. Go with Chantilly Lace.

Simply White was in my sample list, as was Chantilly. I would agree that Simply White is warmer. Of the two, I would choose Chantilly as I prefer a cooler "whiter" white.
