Replacing this socket on dining room fixture
Comments (5)Just to update this post. I did have to go online and order the part. We visited several electrical supply stores plus hardware stores and no one had the part. Once the part arrived, we decided to have our electrician come and change out the part. Good thing we did. When trying to get the existing socket out, it just started to crumble into pieces. One note is that the wiring on the new socket was a bit shorter but he got it all connected again. I guess if we did it over again, I'd be sure to buy this socket with longer wiring. All fixed and now I have my downlight again. Thanks to all of you for the suggestions. Julia...See Moreim looking for tips about new light fixtures, appliances, dining
Comments (6)Lina: Honestly, if you like the current dining room light, I would say keep it. It is really pretty! I just offered those suggestions in case you wanted to consider a change. But I would definitely recommend changing out that light in the kitchen since it's not doing its job very well. The lights don't necessarily have to match in style. I was looking for ones that might work well together but aren't from the exact same collection family. Plus, you don't even have to go for the same finish! You could certainly decide to have a nickel finished kitchen light and then a bronze finished dining room light or something else like that. Really, there are lots of possibilities! I hope that clears it up a bit. And as for appliance ideas, though this is a little outside my scope--I honestly like white appliances. I have them and I think they look good and classic. If you don't like stainless steel (and it sounds like you may not, based on how you said you grow tired of it), white is definitely an option!...See MoreReplacing box light in kitchen and dining room chandelier
Comments (4)You need more than a single light in the middle if a kitchen. I need to know if you want to now mess with the ceiling again . IMO since you have already done that I would get a nice LED track light and change all the pot lights to LED bulbs and make all the bulbs 4000K that will give you the feeling of bright sunlight and the track will allow you to move the lighting to where you need it, As for the DR i need a bit more info about your style so maybe post a pic of your LR. It looks like you have an eat in kitchen too is that right? If so then you would need 2 more light fixtures that work with your style....See MoreHELP WITH LIGHTING; Dining Room Light Fixture Advice
Comments (2)Drum light will be a little anti-climactic to your other choice. I like the bigger one better because it matches your other lights better, and no, it's not too large for your table, especially when the table is extended, but even when collapsed it is still 18" shorter than your table's length, so that's fine....See MoreDesign Interior South
