Mixing dough wearing jewelry
Comments (40)My main concern (which I stated in my original post) is that the jewelry (especially rings) will tear the dough and therefore not be practical - mixing meatloaf while wearing rings is a different story and merely requires a bit more washing up afterwards. But I also do not like to see people getting nice clothes dirty, when it is so easy to put on an apron to protect them. I put on aprons to protect even the most casual clothes that I wear when cooking, but then I particularly like aprons. I've tried wearing gloves and just feel clumsy when I do. When chopping hot chilies (and I frequently chop Habanero and Scotch Bonnet chilies), I pour olive oil on the fingers of my left hand, which I use to hold the chilies, and then I wash that hand with a lot of soap after putting the chilies into the recipe. If I am making hot sauce and will be using a lot of chilies, then I will wear gloves - and also a swim mask and snorkel, to avoid breathing the fumes and also turn on the vent or a fan to blow the fumes out of a window. Since my stove vent only recirculates air, I'm not sure how good it would be at removing chili fumes....See MoreFavorite Nightwear?
Comments (47)I'd be too on edge worrying about running out in a fire to be comfortable sleeping nude. We were in a hotel in New Orleans once when the fire alarms went off at 2 a.m. Our smoke alarms went off randomly at home last winter after midnight. I need a little something to feel secure. I wear Carol Hochman in winter - long soft cotton knit bottoms and a tank w/ built-in shelf bra. Comes with a matching cardi that I wear while sitting up reading in bed and toss on in the morning to make breakfast. In summer I wear either a sleeveless knee length cotton knit gown or soft cotton knit shorts & a cami. I toss a matching tunic length short-sleeved tee over that when making breakfast if it's just DH & me. Like others, I've found some cute & comfy G&O ones at Target. For decades I got a new Lanz full length flannel gown from my parents at Christmas. Wore them into my 30's in winter and little DD had a matching one. Now I can't imagine sleeping in those. I don't know how I could stand the twisting & riding up!...See MoreWearing mama's shoes!
Comments (29)Sammy, good question! It’s been a learning experience for sure. For us, the neighbors (very nice people, we get along well) seem fine with us kind of taking over. I almost said “taking ownership”, then remembered we’re talking about cats here. They own us. Especially tabbies. 😄 Anyway, we take them for vet visits, feed them, shelter them. The neighbors have a lot of pets, and are fine with sharing these two, thank goodness. I agree with you, it’d be weird if both houses were possessive! Curious to hear if that’s happened to anyone here. As I type this, NOC 1 (he was first to come over) is sprawled out napping on my bed. 😹...See MoreDo you wear joggers?
Comments (49)Unless I missed in the comments, I seem to be the only one here who doesn’t like joggers for the elastic waist, not the elastic cuffs. For one thing, many joggers have a drawstring at the waist. They are cute on people with flat abs/midsection who can tuck shirts in, ut for someone like me who can’t, the drawstring just adds bulk to my midsection. For the joggers that just have an elastic waist, another problem for me is that the pleated/gathering also adds bulk. I need a flat, structured waistband to keep my belly from protruding. I bought this pair thinking they would work with the flat front. These are not joggers, but they sell the exact style in joggers with the elastic cuffs. Anyway, these are okay, but I did not realize the back of the waist was gathered and feel like I have a granny butt when I wear them. I’m bottom heavy and these just make my butt look big since there is little structure in the back. They look cute on the model, not so cute on me. I bought them just before the pandemic and would have returned them had the store not been closed for a while. So I wear them, but mostly just around the house. My favorite pair of pants by Athleta they no longer carry. :( Athleta Brooklyn Pants...See Moreseagrass_gw Cape Cod
