Need color and decorating help . . .
Comments (10)The creamy color suggested above sounds wonderful -- very neutral and fresh. You could check out navy curtain panels at Pottery Barn's site -- for a dash of that deep color. Perhaps even consider switching to matchstick blinds -- again -- for color and texture. Go to art.com -- and type in "Beach" into their search engine -- LOTS of choices there -- from fine art to fun art! BUT wait until the new TV is in place before looking for artworks. Just take down the artworks so that you have "naked" (LOL!) walls to start the process. Or perhaps use some family photos -- do you have some photos that feature beach/water vacations? Perhaps switch to a standing lamp in the corner between the sofa and the loveseat? And consider switching the new side table -- to a creamy-painted one? Just to add a bit more symmetry in a small room. And check overstock.com for a creamy-painted TV stand that would sit in place of the bench and hid the equipment. And do consider switching to a sisal rug ... again ... nice texture and contrast. Just some thoughts! Hope you don't mind!...See MoreKitchen/Living room wall color and decorating help
Comments (12)If you were you planning to wrap the back corners of the bar with vertical boards, also consider wainscoting the base cabinet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wURGAG8K7ro When your budget permits, consider replacing countertops, beginning with the bar countertop, perhaps with a butcher block look -- would work well really if you're only changing the island top and would work with different countertops if you change out the rest of them later. If you ever shop Habitat for Humanity Restore Stores, you might even be on the lookout for a used one at a bargain price. (Like the oak and cedar and walnut ones.) https://www.google.com/search?source=univ&tbm=isch&q=faux+wood+cutting+board+island+countertop&client=firefox-b-1-d&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiOhfXs0NTqAhVFlXIEHbNmAVIQsAR6BAgBEAE&biw=1366&bih=654...See MoreHelp with Porch Decor Only (Not Paint Color)
Comments (31)@tracefloyd yeah…the recession of the door is a bit of a concern (it goes back about 10in). I originally wanted to put the planters up there on that ledge that goes back, but seemed a little cramped against the door—plus they would have to be really small planters. I'm just going to push those bigger planters as far back as I can. Unfortunately, the door color has to stay the same for now. I agree it's not a huge contrast from the new ceiling and porch color (both were lighter before). It looks better in person, especially during the day when the sun is out. I don't mind wreaths throughout the year. We had a white summery wreath on there before and it really popped against the red door. This is the color of the stucco, trim, and front door…...See MoreHelp! Cabinet color, backsplash, lighting and decor options!
Comments (6)I think your kitchen looks quite nice -- the main issue is the paint color, which looks too blue for the other finishes (at least in the lighting shown). Are you willing to change that if it flows into the next room too? A warmer gray or taupe would work a lot better, as would a close-up of your counter material. ETA: I'm not sure that the dark blue back of the island is helping either. Another place that a more neutral tone would keep things from fighting so much....See MoreRelated Professionals
