Comments (72)This is my upstairs hall bath in my 1930 home. It was a complete gut job down to the framing. My 11 year old son and I did the entire demo ourselves (I'm a 48 yr old mom). As a KD, I was able to purchase most everything at my cost....but the overall cost for this re-do was still $6K as I went with high quality materials. I hired out all the other labor: plumbing, carpentry and tile. Here's my materials list: Vanity: Showplace Wood Products, Beaded Inset Vintage Cherry Distressed and glazed, Concord door, matte finish Top: Silestone Quartz "Lagoon" Faucet: GROHE "Feel"; Starlight Chrome 1-Handle Single Hole Bathroom Sink Faucet Item #: 339520 : Model #: 23171000 (at Lowes) Floor: Florida Hex Tile; Black and White w/ Charcoal grout (next lightest to black) Tub/Surround: Sterling by Kohler Sconce Lights: Purchased thru Lampsplus; Minka Lavery Hyllcastle Chrome 18" Wide Bath Bar Style # P5672 Beadboard: Purchased from Nantucket Beadboard Train Rack: Purchased for $40 at Tuesday Morning Mirror: Old beveled mirror that came with my house and was hung in my son's bedroom. Towels: JCPenney...See Morehelp.....I can't stop shopping
Comments (22)LOL, Kathleen, I've done that too. Yes Jeanne, the bell jars are very heavy glass and sturdy. The SMALL one is about the size of the cloche that I decorate on my bathroom counter, you guys have seen it a lot. I haven't even begun to think WHERE I will put this big one, or what I will put in it. I did pull the two bins out of the little shed out back, and two more out of the closet in my 'sitting room'. I got that closet reorganized somewhat. After Dad passed away, I started putting things in there I'd bought since last year for holidays. I had Fall, Halloween, Xmas, Easter...sheeesh. What a mess. Took me almost 2 hrs last night to redo it. Right now the Fall bins are sitting in the middle of the floor. Tho I did get the front porch started, and some on the back one too. Faux floral stuff. But the big job awaits of unpacking all the Fall decor and trying to make sense of it. Not to mention packing away some of my regular stuff till "next year". Bye bye big bunnies especially. ;o( Eight are now hibernating! A few more will be soon. hugs, Karen...See MoreMy expensive new bathroom is ugly
Comments (65)I like your choices, too. I would continue searching for the right light neutral color, myself. I'm also not sold on blue in there... It does take time to get the right color! My usual procedure: 1) bring home about 10 different swatches from the store. Hold them up in the room in various places, sometimes right on the wall, sometimes holding it out at arms length so it's "bigger" in your field of vision. Narrow your swatches down to say 5 or 6 that look OK. 2) Look at them at different times of day, different weather, different locations in the room. Next to whatever different materials they will abut IRL. 3) Narrow it down to a handful. Buy testers of those colors or whatever the smallest amount you can buy is. Paint ~2'x2' blocks on various walls (or paint pieces of poster board that you can move around) and again, look at them in different light situations....See MoreDecor/Art for Bathroom
Comments (58)Thanks for the opinions ... Yes, the turtle wall hanging, or it could be a bowl or platter (but with the flaw, it's not food safe). I do really like turtles, but it's more of their a happy association with the trips I've taken to Hawai, not like a decorating obession or anything. My house is small, so I only have a limited amount of space, so no place for the turtle except this one place in my bathroom. The whale triptych (actually 4 pieces, not sure what that is called) behind it is absolutely gorgeous, and what originally caught my eye. But too big for the space, and way out of the range I'm willing to spend (and overpriced, to be honest) 1 hr until the craft fair closes down ....hmmm .......See MoreRelated Professionals
