Update: Painted the foyer/hall area
Comments (18)Oh yeah! I sat on DH's shoulders. . . kidding :P My coworker was nice enough to let me borrow his short stair ladder. I think it's a smaller version of those little giant ladders. I had DH stand behind me while I was using it. The steps on it weren't wide so it was awkward at times trying to bend/twist and be careful not to fall! Since I don't own one of these ladders that's another reason the color needs to stay for now....See MoreEntry foyer update
Comments (2)Nice changes. I have three suggestions. The wall hanging is too high - it needs to come down and feel more connected with the sideboard - that will also make the upturning corners less noticeable. Second, I would change out the candle for something in a rusty red or a teal. Third, a darker shade on the lamp might be nicer, rather than the light, patterned one there now. I think it would help to connect between the dark trim on the wall hanging and the darker wood tones of the floor and the front of the cabinet....See MoreHow to Update Foyer- New House!
Comments (7)The carpet is staying. It is a major reno as it runs through the entire upstairs. It's also more then just pulling back the carpet. I'm not sure if you have ever refinished a staircase. It is big work and can get very pricey. We are interested in that amount of work for several more years, if even at all, as the carpet is in excellent condition. The colours are very dated; they are two different shades of a builder's peach. They date the tile flooring because they are so ugly and not in style. My budget would be about $500. I did say in my post lighting, paint and accessories! I obviously have an idea of what I like but like to get ideas from other people too....See MoreHow to update 80's home foyer ledge?
Comments (14)Our vacation home had one of those very large round top windows over the front entry double doors, and a double height ceiling. We ultimately decided to make the entry one-story high, replaced the double doors with a single door and side lights, and added a second story office with an appropriately sized window (no round top.) It was worth the $$ to change out the 80s-90s trend to a more classic look. You might consider saving up to make a more substantial change at a future date....See Morejodifina
