what do you use to remove spots from phal leaves
Comments (9)In my experience and from what I've read, you can repot Phals that are blooming and trim roots in the process. Full-strength bottled lemon juice and lime juice on a paper towel have removed spots on my Phal leaves when they've just arrived from a commercial grower. I've never rinsed off the leaves right after but make sure there's no liquid in the crown. I've used RealLemon and RealLime 100% Juice from concentrate, manufactured by the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group. However, the leaves have never had a white film on them. If your lime juice doesn't work, perhaps the grower can offer options. Comments (5)I forgot to mention that in addition to using the SpotShot for the obvious - spraying the roses, we also use it for applying the Bayer soil drench and it works great. Just take the spray tip off so that you get a stream of water when the trigger is pressed. I count how long it takes to fill a quart, then go from rose to rose counting to approximate the quart. Sure beats mixing and pouring under each rose. Easier on the back - and much faster. Probably could also use it to apply the compost tea if it is strained first....See MoreSweet Spot for buying used Fridge
Comments (3)First of all, I doubt that you could get $200 for a fridge that needs repair. If the icemaker was in perfect working condition, maybe. If it's a current color like stainless. If it's bisque, good luck giving it away! Generally, refrigerators are not as long lived as they used to be due to the new Energy Star program. Yes, they save a lot more energy, but it's a lot harder on the compressors and other internals. You should expect 7-10 years of life from a modern fridge. If the fridge dies between that 5-7 year mark, then it's iffy whether or not repairing it is worth it. If you can do the work yourself, or isn't expensive to have someone else do, then yes, it's probably worth repairing. If the repair is over $300, then it's probably wise to think about a new model....See MoreBest Grass Seed To Use For South Florida Lawn Bald Spots
Comments (20)Funny thing about that Mimosa-my folks had lived in Fort Myers for twenty years when, upon visiting them, I pointed out this neat, puffy-looking flower growing in the turf on some hell-strip by a mall. They had never seen it! I saw it my first day down there! I guess it's safe to say, the world is composed of two types of people, those who notice plants and those who don't. To wit, if you'll allow me to take this slightly further OT- a botany professor who writes a good blog was writing about his first-day students. He would show them a photo of some scene in a forest somewhere, tropical or otherwise, and ask them to write down what they saw in the picture. Almost to a student, if there was some kind of animal in the picture, it got written down. Nobody....not one student....took note of all the plant life in the photo! And this was a botany class. Sheesh..........I don't hold out a lot of hope for our future. In any case, sunshine mimosa is one of those subtropical plants that, when I'm down in FL I like to look at and conjure up the dream of using it in the north here as an annual. Not saying that would work, or that I'm going to be doing it, but just that it always makes me think about doing so. +oM...See Morerhizo_1 (North AL) zone 7
