Finally installed my pan rail! It ended up being trickier than I thought because the anchors that came with the rail were not quite right for me. Then I ended up having to do some spackling, sanding and painting around the screw holes. Luckily, I still had some leftover paint and it blended well. The s-hooks that came with the rail are long, as you can see, so the pans are quite close to the floor. I plan on getting shorter ones. I chose this particular rail from Amazon because it was a close match to the gas pipe below. What has been a really pleasant surprise is just how much this rail can hold. It has helped my kitchen in terms of looking less cluttered. I just want to thank all of you for your great feedback! Below is a before and after photo.

Hello! Getting ready to demo an old one wall stair rail and install all new newel posts, handrail and balusters. Question is, do I install and then stain or stain fist, then install? Hoping to get professional opinion on this. Thank you!

Just throwing out some considerations. I’m having a hard time imagining glass on these steps; what is the plan with the small gap to pillars. Your inspiration picture has a natural end on the stairs and I think you would have to extend yours. I also think the look below would be more complementary to your home’s style. I wouldn’t be selecting based on your rationale: It won’t start a new trend, not doing won’t date the house and it will remain the same overall. If you love the idea, that’s a different thing. The back stairs can be different.
