It's not the above ground portions that get too hot or too cold - it's the roots! Roots crammed into a pot are unprotected so they can easily get too hot in the sun and too cold if the surrounding air is chilly. In habitat, roots in the ground are spared from temperature (and moisture) extremes. It could be 115F but the roots are much cooler. And the air temp could be freezing, but the roots remain warmer in the ground. That is why potted plants do not have the same "zone rating" as in-ground plantings. Plants in pots are not afforded this same protection so you have to be wary and manage your plants accordingly. I think in your case, it's possible that the roots are badly damaged so you see quick leaf desiccation on the south windowsill. What needs to occur is new and sustained root growth. Succulents are amazingly adaptable and they tolerate poor conditions for a long time, tricking owners into thinking the plants are healthy when in reality they may not be. I'm not saying that is happening to you, but it is an important consideration going forward. It's also normal this time of year as new growth resumes, older leaves wither away and senesce. IMO, I have no problems whatsoever with your plants spending their days outdoors. Temps in the 40F-90F range are perfect, just be careful not to give them full sun right away. They will appreciate the rain as well, it looks like you are using a coarse mix so the pots won't get waterlogged. If you have some reservations about growing outdoors, I would suggest you go to Home Depot and pick up a few cheap succulents to experiment with. It will be a fantastic learning experience. x

That does not make a missdiagnosis any less wrong, it's just the way it is, and few people would do better in their own jobs with a situation like that. (This ties in so well with the question vivian asked about capitolism) People find a shop/tech that can do the work correctly the first time but abandon them for the first discount that comes down the street. Then they only go back to the good shop when the discounter can't do the work, or at least do it correctly. Which BTW we do have to qualify, your statement about two AC repairs is incomplete. If the AC problem was the compressor was leaking, and someone else "fixed" it by putting in sealer, then the debate is not over in reguards to the problem being fixed or not correctly. While with limited knowledge a consumer may be happier with the sealer for their solution the correct repair really would have been to replace the compressor, and the tech/shop that was making that recommendation was in fact the one that was right. You see the answer isn't always the fewest dollars from the consumers pocket "today" is the correct one. Adding sealer makes the system unserviceable in the future, period. I have a test kit to identify sealers added to the system and if I detect a sealer, the car gets parked outside and there is nothing I can or will do with it at all. It may have saved you the day it was put in, but it only delayed the real cost, which is more than you want to pay.

I agree, watchmelol, that page deals through traffic, not stop signs. The only reference I could find to Ohio stops sign laws was the one that also mentions trolleys. I found a site that explains the reasons why left turn traffic yields to a car already stopped at a stop sign, but going straight through. My interpretation is that a person making a left turn has to yield to another driver already stopped at a stop sign, but after the driver going straight has entered the intersection the person making the left turn can then enter the intersection, before the next car behind the straight through driver has come to a stop. A stopped car has to yield to all vehicles already in the intersection. At STOP signs, the left turn shall proceed immediately after the oncoming straight ahead driver goes, unless traffic that does not have to stop prevents this. STOP INTERSECTIONS: There are two very important reasons why the left turn waits on oncoming traffic. Here they are: On a through street, much less traffic could pass through if each vehicle had to wait for a left turn before proceeding. It could become as congested as a street full of ALL-WAY STOP intersections. It takes much less time for a left turn to occur after an oncoming straight ahead movement than it takes if the left turn went first. When the left turn goes first, the oncoming car has to wait for the left turning vehicle to completely leave the intersection. If the oncoming car goes first, the left turning driver can start as soon as the oncoming car has entered the intersection. It then tucks in behind the oncoming car, taking only half the intersection time it would otherwise take. The two cars share some intersection time this way. One of my solar lights stopped working, so I charged the battery. It's shining bright now but won't turn off even in bright sunlight. I previously wrote about another solar light that started flashing. I recharged that battery and it's back to normal.
