How can I improve curb appeal, live in Canada

Comments (22)I don't know what that ivy is either, but it's gone now! We'll also have the roof fixed and clean. It's a slate roof so I don't think it needs replacement yet, but a cleaning and repairs sorely needed. Can anyone recommend a program or an app where I could play with color options for the shutters, door, deck etc? I am not very good at these things and don't use photoshop but if there is another app I could download I'll learn how to work it! I think that may be the best way for me to visualize things.....See MoreIf this was your house, what would you do to improve curb appeal?
Comments (19)I like the suggestions of @partim and others to add a roof of some sort (open for light or closed for shelter) to the blank wall area, and the suggestions of going dark with the siding/trim and refining the detailing on the bay window. The element that still bothers me after those changes is the very wide overhang of the main roof on the left side. Obviously it's okay structurally (it's still up there!), but to the eye it looks like it needs support. This would probably be more than $10k, but maybe someday the column of brick and the siding wall to the left of the blank area could be extended up to the roof to provide that visual impression of support and to balance the facade? Something like this?...See MoreNeed Help with improving Curb Appeal/ Planters
Comments (10)I would have a planter just on the right side. Consider moving the rock out from the right side and put it elsewhere. Buy a 24x24 cement square pad and level set it in front of the meter and get a taller planter pot maybe a foot taller in black to set on the cement pad. Get a door mat that compliments with the door color. Future plan might be to extend the left side bed further out, and trim down all the shrubs so they're below the windows. Landscaping will add some nice curb appeal....See Morecalidesign
