Help with kitchen counter-tops is really needed...
Comments (42)for the handles, may I suggest something to pick up on the hues in the flooring? A little more copper toned. you have light cabs, light floors. I think throwing in a dark ORB w/o actual copper highlights would be too much of a contrast. IMO. cypress park Sandra, I like the porcelain one better than the other one. Does the backsplash have to be done immediately? If the tones in the porcelain tile you picked clash w/the ivory tones in the counter, it could be a problem. However, I did find some copper toned ones that should be avail. these are porcelain/SS, and treated so as not to stain or tarnish. I LOVE these for your kitchen. timeless and gorgeous. They are probably not super cheap, but it would be worth it for me. http://www.miusartmosaics.com/arabesque-lantern-beacon-copper-tile-in these would also work. the site is here: maybe they have them in stock.http://www.westsidetile.com/arabesque-tiles/ i like this one too. notice the copper faucet. beautiful w/the glass mosaic. if you got the cream countertop, this would look amazing w/your floors. this last one is a copper colored slate/quartzite....See MoreKitchen cabinet color and counter top help please!
Comments (12)Thanks - and I was planning the white perimeter uppers and lowers with a darker quartz counter top ( i like the darker charcoal -matte finish- on top of the white cabinets)and the light gray island cabinet with marbled quartz top. I do love a dark gray cabinet but I have a small kitchen and worried it may be too dark. We are a family of 5 with three messy kids - although they are getting older and less messy lol. Ill have to look at the stained gray - i just dont like to see the grain of wood in cabinets. This island below has the pendants I will do (I'll do 2 smaller Hicks pendants). I like the look of this island and top and the white cabinets with dark quartz in lower pic what do you think?...See MoreCounter top color recommendation for this Rustic Kitchen

Comments (6)I think you will get good feedback if you post some pictures of the style and colours you like. Spend some time browsing kitchens here on Houzz and pick some that make you happy. Now, for your kitchen, I find the centre placement of the handles very dated. I hope when you are painting that you will remove those pulls and have the holes filled. I assume you are happy with your current layout since you are keeping it. Have you considered refacing your cabinets with new doors? I'm worried the arched tops are going to continue to make the room look dated even once you spend money to update other items. There are several companies that do refacing. You might look at Semi Handmade for profile ideas. If you chose this option, the bodies of the cabinets would be painted onsite but the new doors could be factory painted. You'll want to remove the wallpaper and also the heavy valance over the window and the wood valance too above the window. The room looks a bit dark in the pictures....so removing the heavy curtain will help bring some light in. You may also need/want to consider some new lighting. If you are going to get new counters then also get new backsplash. I know some folks have had success painting tile but I think it may be temporary success. I think you should start with counters. Go shopping and see the slabs in person (not always possible these days). When you find something that you like, then bring it home and start choosing your cupboard paint colour based on the counter. The last thing to be chosen will be backsplash. Wall paint colour will need to work with the cupboard colour and the counters, so it all has to tie together, starting with the least changeable element - the new counters. Please take the time to gather some inspiration pictures. It will help you narrow down your choices (solid colour counters, lots of pattern, small veining, large dramatic veining - all of these are out there waiting for you)....See MoreSusanna Yurick
