Watch Berserk Bernie Sanders Fans Trap Woman Congressional Candidate in Her Car: ‘BLOCK HER IN!’

By Tommy ChristopherFeb 26th, 2020, 11:30 am394 comments

A group of Bernie Sanders supporters posted a video of themselves screaming at Illinois Democratic congressional candidate Betsy Dirksen Londrigan and trapping her in her car, yelling “Medicare for All” slogans and demanding that she debate democratic socialist candidate Stephanie Smith.

On Tuesday, local CBS Capital Bureau Chief Mark Maxwell posted a video of a group of Democratic Socialists surrounding Londrigan’s car screaming “Block her in!”, demanding Londrigan debate Smith, and being told to stop shoving.
Bizarre. Watch these Bernie Bros stalk @BetsyforIL and then surround her car last night, while they shout, “Block her in!” They scream at her to debate a fringe far-left candidate who only has 2 donors from Illinois. pic.twitter.com/CAw9aKu56R

But as Maxwell noted in his report, Londrigan appeared at a forum with Smith two weeks ago, and “pledged to support [Smith] if she won.”
“Betsy travels to public events across Central Illinois to hear and discuss issues, like the high cost of prescription drugs, that working families face every day,” Londrigan’s campaign manager Jacob Plotnick said in an email. “A few aggressive individuals are not going to deter her from continuing to have important conversations with the voters of the 13th district.”

The video was from a Facebook live stream that was posted Monday night by a group named “Where is Betsy?”, which describes itself by saying “This page was created for the soul purpose of spotting Betsy Lodrigan Dirkson in her travels through out the IL-13 district.”

It’s unclear whether “Soul Purpose” is intended as a reference to a favorite Michael Bolton bootleg.

Smith responded to the dustup by posting a video of her own — thanking the mob and praising the event as “non-violent.”

The Republican incumbent also issued a statement condemning the “ambush,” and likening it to the shooting at a congressional baseball practice.
“In 2017, a Bernie supporter shot at Congressman Davis and other Republicans practicing for the Congressional Baseball Game,” [campaign spokesperson for incumbent Congressman Rodney Davis, Ashley] Phelps wrote. “Since then Congressman Davis has spoken out against this kind of violence and the harassment others have experienced, saying it shouldn’t happen to anyone. He wishes more people would speak out against this kind of harassment from Bernie supporters.”

I saw that on the news. It was a scary, demented, dangerous mob attacking the candidate: physically assaulting her. Horrible. She must have been pretty scared, but she maintained her composure admirably, IMO.

That said, one surely can't blame Sanders for this any more than they could blame Trump for the bad acts of some of his supporters.

Right?

A horrid incident. And in my opinion you can only blame the leader the thugs support if that leader has ever encouraged physical aggression towards the opposition among his followers. Then, yes, they would bear a degree of responsibility.

The age of the accountability is 8 years old.

The blame lies with the perpetrators.

It was premeditated THEY LIVE-STREAMED IT!

True, to a large extent, but don't underestimate the power of mob mentality to encourage people to do outrageous things they would never normally do. This is not a political statement in any way, incidentally.

I've seen the statement that the age of accountability is eight before somewhere. Thinking of eight-year-olds I've known, I wonder: who thought that made sense? What does it mean? It may be the age at which, psychologically, children can be expected to understand about actions and consequences -- but at what level of complexity can an eight-year-old understand potential consequences? The eight-year-old who chucks uncle's still glowing cigarette out of the car window has no concept of starting a forest fire.

The pattern of aggression and violence from Bernie Bros cannot be denied at this point. There is a radical core to Bernie's movement and it's like they welcome the fight.

The fact that it was livestreamed on FB is frightening and the aggression is escalating. We've seen this so many times, from Tucker Carlson's home being vandalized and attacked, to Trump haters screaming about killing Mitch McConnell as he convalesced in his own home, to elderly being beaten and broken in the streets, to this kind of anarchy, where these self-proclaimed democratic socialists feel they have every right to violate the safety of others.

The Left loves to attack Project Veritas, but they exposed this radical, violent faction in Bernie's camp and no one wanted to listen to the warning.

This escalating rhetoric, aggression, anarchy, scare tactics, harassment and violence on the Left needs to stop. No one should be attacked or made to feel unsafe in their own homes, because of their political views. That's some communist stuff that Bernie is ushering in, with the help of his "surrogates".

"Nevada Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy called police after supporters of Senator Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) protested outside his home from 11 p.m. the night before the state’s caucuses, Politico reported on Thursday.

One protester, Maria Estrada, shouted into a bullhorn while live streaming her actions on her Facebook page. At around 12a.m. McCurdy went outside to confront the group, saying they had “crossed a line” before eventually calling the police. Officers arrived after the protesters had already left."

“Protesting is our right—whether they called the police or not is irrelevant,” Estrada, a self-described “Berner” who is not a member of Sanders’s campaign, told Politico. She added that none of the other protesters were employed by the Sanders campaign."

Estrada and other protesters have recently demonstrated outside the houses of Democratic officials in California, including California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, who manages the state’s elections. Padilla also called the police.

The Sanders campaign has struggled to rein in the actions of the senator’s most virulent supporters. Many of those supporters, known pejoratively as “Bernie Bros,” engage in social media harassment of campaign rivals and supporters of those rivals to an extent that critics claim is disproportionate relative to other candidates."

I would guess that all of us disapprove of election violence. What else do you want us to say?

He/she should. Who could sleep at night with an 8-year-old in the house, otherwise?

Elvis, "should" isn't the point. The brain is not particularly developed at age eight. The connection between that vaguely glowing little tube and acres of conflagration is too far a leap for a child of that age. Facts trump (you should forgive the expression) "shoulds".

And just last week you loved Bernie and were castigating Democrats for not supporting him. Now he is a real front runner and suddenly he is a monster of depravity and so are ALL of his followers. Call me surprised.

2020 ELECTIONS

Cops repeatedly called on Bernie backers

Their late-night bullhorn protests at public officials' homes come as Sanders' opponents are increasingly calling out his supporters' behavior

By ALEX THOMPSON and HOLLY OTTERBEIN

The night before the Nevada caucuses, the chairman of the state’s Democratic Party called police after several supporters of Bernie Sanders gathered outside his home at 11 p.m. with a bullhorn to issue a warning about the next day’s election.

“I want assurances that there isn’t going to be any shenanigans going on tomorrow. The Democratic Party does not control what happens,” Maria Estrada, a self-described “Berner” from Los Angeles, said into the bullhorn, according to a Facebook Live video she streamed on her personal page. She repeatedly said she didn’t want to see a repeat of the 2016 election, which she insinuated was rigged against Sanders.

At least three other times in recent days, Estrada led a group of Sanders supporters who gathered late at night outside the homes of Democratic Party officials and California lawmakers, including those of Secretary of State Alex Padilla and state Democratic Party Chairman Rusty Hicks. Police were called at least twice.

“Protesting is our right — whether they called the police or not is irrelevant,” Estrada, a longtime progressive activist, told POLITICO in a Facebook message. Estrada waged a surprisingly competitive primary against California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon in 2018 — losing 54 to 46 percent — and is challenging him again in 2020. Estrada is not employed by the Sanders campaign and said none of the fellow protesters were either.

William McCurdy, the Nevada party chair and a member of the state Assembly, confronted Estrada and the other Sanders supporters outside his home nearly an hour after they arrived. He told them they had “crossed a line.”

Let's be clear. We NEVER loved Bernie. We are capable of seeing hit jobs, injustice and cheating, and called it as it was. Bernie is a loathsome, loser, tax-payer-sucking commie socialist who should never, ever darken the doors of the WH.

Nope. Bernie's been consistent in what he believes for decades. Pointing that out is not the same as saying those ideas are good for the country. They're not.

The Dems have run so far to the left that they've finally given Bernie the opening he needs to make serious headway with a surprising number of Democrat voters. That's squarely on the Democrats; nobody on the right made that happen.

mudhouse, let's face it, socialism as well as globalism was part of Obama's fundamental change and he's really the one who ushered in the glorification of normalization of Cuba and its dictatorship.

Of course done AFTER his second election, when he didn't give a rip about pretense and getting votes from good folks he duped.
