Chandelier suggestions?

I'm slowly getting my house together. Working on the dining room right now. This is a 1938 Cape Cod bungalow. I really dislike the chandelier I inherited with the house purchase. I'm thinking a wagon wheel chandelier would fit the room. There's a built-in in the corner to the left next to an arched entry to the living room. I'm standing in the entrance tti the kitchen. Just got the table. There are another five chairs; going to recover all six.

Thanks for any suggestions.

This is just my opinion, so feel free to ignore it - I can't see a wagon wheel fixture in that room, due to the chair rail and the nice raised panel effect below it. It's more of a Traditional style room. Your house is beautiful from what little we can see of it.

I think this indirect lighting arrangement is called a "cove light". Is your kitchen ceiling lower than adjacent rooms? That is, is the existing flureschent fixture contained within a 9" deep soffit below the 8' ceiling or is it built into a recessed area above 8'? The former is more common. Assuming it's a dropped soffit, another option is to remove the soffit entirely, which would raise your kithcen ceiling by 9", and make the ceiling flush straight through. We just did this in our house. Of course you can't do both, and the cove light is cool, so I could imagine going either way. I'm glad we went with higher ceiling in our kitchen though.

Tip one, lower your artwork, and if you want to keep that shelf in there I would angle it in that corner. Also, I would center the table to that window, and then just swag hook your chandelier to center. What the size of that table and what is your budget?

I’m in awe of your view, what gorgeous scenery. These are all very large and I think would go well with the other elements in the room. I just wanted to show some various styles — ignore the sizes and non-exact placement, these are very rough mock-ups — to see if any appeal.

I agree with My3dogs, I’m not loving the wagon wheel style ... although the one with shades below is kind of neat. Gives off a vintage feel to me. :)
