Some people that have codes preventing them from putting a chandy over the bathtub, have all the necessary wires in the ceiling and then install the light fixture after the inspection. Just sayin' :) We don't have building codes in the country here so there IS a chandy over my bathtub and I've seen 100s of pictures on Houzz (on on hgtv) with the same. I'm not sure how it's a problem. If the thing came loose somehow and dropped, the wires aren't long enough to come anywhere close to the water in the tub. If someone was in your attic and cut the wires and unbolted the mounting, it might fall on your head but it won't electrocute you <g> I'm sure I'm missing something. But then again, in this crazy world, maybe not.

Get a cabinet for the TV when you just said I have too much furniture? My main purpose in my house is hosting groups of people, we constantly have people over so if I have to choose between more seating and a cabinet, seating wins, every time. The rattan chair was given to us for free, I don' like it but it adds seating so it stays. And finally, everyone chooses which battles they are going to fight with their kids, for me I would rather go through the trouble of hanging my stuff a little higher and avoid them making it fall and hurt them and focus on other lessons that are more important right now. Honestly, you'e comment was the most unhelpful I have ever received here but it makes me never want to ask for advise from here again. Interior design is different for everyone because every one has different priorities and needs and if you're going to give advice to someone of their design, make sure you are trying to serve them accordingly, and if you can't then just refrain from saying any comment at all because at that point you are only serving yourself

We had the same situation. In our kitchen, we used the subway tile as your contractor is suggesting in your photo. You don't need trim pieces that way, and you have a flat surface that is easy to clean and gives you more room behind the faucet. It's important to know your faucet placement. In our laundry room, we made the quartz backsplash to reach the bottom of the window, and added a flat wood edge just like Matt posted above. But that area had a slightly higher window and more room to place the faucet behind the sink. It looks like the flat subway tile would be best in your situation.
