How do I arrange/decorate my new porch?????
Comments (0)The porch is 16’x12’. The current rug (with water spot :p is 5’x7’, which I’m thinking might be too small? The daybed just arrived today and I have additional 20x20 pillows for it, my toddler arranged the current ones :) The two wicker chairs with ottomans and small table are new but do not have to stay in the porch. The drop leaf table I pulled from the basement thinking we could use it for decor/the tv/or dining. The fireplace doesn’t have to stay out here all summer and might be better off inside when the Virginia humidity strikes. We planned to keep the porch a tv free zone until it was MLB opening season... it hasn’t made it back inside since. The paper shades will come down once the roller shades arrive. And I’m not sure if I should center things on this wall with the peak of the ceiling or between the two windows. I’m thinking windows since that is where your eye is probably drawn to most. On last question... haint blue for the ceiling or stained?...See MoreHow to decorate huge fireplace rock wall
Comments (1)I would not put the TV above the fireplace. The fireplace is small and I think the TV will dwarf it. I do think that the mantel should be lowered or maybe removed. It looks way too high, like it was a later add-on by someone without a good eye for proportion and scale. If it makes sense for your TV to be on that side of the room, I don't see a problem putting it to the left of the fireplace. It's hard to judge whether that is optimal without seeing more of the room. Your furniture seems awkwardly placed, especially the sofa. If you post more pictures and ideally a floor plan with dimensions, you will get some good suggestions on furniture layouts. I would think that the sofa would work better floated in the room rather than pushed up against the wall....See MoreHelp...how do I decorate around my bull on fireplace?

Comments (3)The two stories provide airiness, and you don’t decorate the air. So unless you have some massive piece that needs that height to fit, decorate like you would any other room that was a typical ceiling height…keep it at people level and just appreciate the vastness above....See MoreDesign Girl
