Kitchen Cabinet Choices-Brands

We are remodeling our kitchen and our designer has a relationship with a cabinet vendor that sells Kabinart, Fabuwood, MidContinent and KC Doors as options. I'm interested in any experience with these manufactures to help with our decision making in terms of quality. Thanks!

LWO is right...entry level. Never heard of KC Doors though.

There is no comparison between those brands and Dynasty. The construction and finish is a huge difference. Huge. As well as the much expanded finishing choices. All of those "upgrades" are standard for Dyasty. Plus you get a furniture quality finish. If you are going to live in the house for any length of time, it's worth having the better quality.

You've already purchased the cabinets and are planning to sell the house. Install the new cabinets. If your current cabinets are built in place, chances are that there is some really nice old growth pine that would be worth hanging onto so I'd be trying to avoid chucking it into a dumpster. Might find a use for it in your next house.

Is Swiss Coffee a good cabinet color choice for north facing kitchen?

Let me see if I can show you some of our home samples and how we are tying the color options available with the swiss coffee, cityscape blue grey along with natural cedar accents of our home exterior. I tried to flow similar colors through out to tie everything together. In the top left corner, you should see "beige looking" square next to a small dark blue card...that's the swiss coffee(main color of home) and cityscape blue grey color(accent on garage/gables) that will be on our exterior. The city scape will also be the main color of our cabinets too. Everything else you see are varying selections we made for counter tops and backsplash which I tried to organize in such a way to see how the colors play off one another. right corner(kitchen cabinets: white island and blue grey uppers/lowers) cement countertops with random mosaic white backsplash. The large square at the top is our LVP flooring we are putting down through out the entire house. Middle: "gre-ige" square: Benjamin Moore San Francisco Fog paint through out no accent paint colors left bottom corner: Blue light grey tile for guest bath tub/shower surround and white grey looking tile is the grey swirl marble countertops that will be in both guest bathroom but will be our cultured marble style for our shower. Hope this makes sense and helps you get some ideas. :D

I actually kind of like the cabinet color in the photo. Its a little hard to see the floors though. you could paint the shutters alabaster or chocolate brown to match the trim. Or you maybe could do a blue on the cabinetry as well if you dont like the color.

While the response might be a bit harsh, I have to say I began looking about a year ago. I didn't really know much about the brands and started to research. When I realized that many of the brands may say they are in NJ or Ct or Miami or wherever, that is often the warehouse or distribution center and they are made in China.

We often have little choice in the matter as so much is made there but I am so not comfortable with that. I remember the drywall scandal nightmare and other things like that. I did finally find a few brands made in USA that are not crazy pricewise out of my league. So I guess that is my longwinded way of saying do a bit more research and you can find USA made.

If those are the only brands your designer’s cabinet vendor carries, time to change designers.

I'm not sure which or any of those are Chinese brands. However, I do have access to one brand of Chinese Imported. Sales have fallen off almost completely after the tariffs went in to affect. They went up almost 30%! So my entry level American made cabinets now compete very well. I have to admit, I am thrilled with this...as I really would rather support products made right here in the USA. The only reason I took on the other line was to be able to offer it and not lose out on a piece of that market. We never had showroom displays installed..just had the door samples available in the back of the room to show people who were in that market. At that time, before the tariffs, they were an amazing deal for someone needing something quick, decent quality and cheap. No longer though.

Can you recommend an entry level American made cabinet line? Assembled, good quality, but budget is more like a Toyota than a Mercedes. Thank you!
