Mustard walls in this room?
Slowly but surely updating each room in our house.
Don't mind the mess, this room is currently a home office and laundry room. We're planning to move the laundry into the bathroom across the hall, and make this room a more functional office/guest room combo.
I'm leaning towards a sage green for the open living/dining area of the house (currently tan) and prefer each room to have its own color. I also prefer a cozy feel so I was thinking mustard might look good in here. Is there something better, particularly in relation to the flooring? I'd like to keep the rug, which has yellow, green, blue, pink, and tan.

Comments (11)What you describe...Rich Gold or Dark Mustard, is exactly what my hubby wanted. It's exactly what he came home with when he went out on his own to Ho-De looking for paint chips or "samples". Came home with Two Gallons of Behr Medieval Gold Paint, in a Flat Finish. I would have preferred something a little softer, a little more toned down and I would have preferred a Soft Satin Finish. But since he rarely gives his opinion on my decorating choices and always lets me have free rein, I decided to live with it. It has really grown on me and I don't mind it at all! In fact, I'm finding any color accessory I put in the bedroom, coordinates very well with the Medieval Gold. Here are some pics taken while we were in the process of painting the room. Comments (3)We have SW Hubbard Squash and SW Ruskin Beige right next to each other. They look good together, as well. Just make sure that you don't go with a beige that is too gray, get a beige with yellowish undertones. Comments (13)India yellow in my light in northern California but with tree shade read as a pretty hot color - more burnt orange than yellow actually. F&B calls for red and warm tones undercoat. In your design, I see the yellow on my screen as a more of a mid century color which a muted mustardy color.. Not sure if I am making sense, but if you look at all the yellows on the F&B's color card, India Yellow is the strongest. It may be just the thing you need, but I would suggest trying a couple of others as well - Sudbury and maybe a BM color....See MoreMarleneM

4 years agoWe all interpret colour names differently. Now that I see your inspiration photo I see a soft gold, not mustard lol! I did some searching on Sherwin Williams and I’m thinking your colour preferences may lie in the first two photos, which is their rustic refined palette, but your rug looks like it fit more with third photo which is their blissful retreat palette. If you’re close to a SW store, it might be a good to get some of these palette cards and see how they relate to your rug.
