New Built - Family room windows - 6 ft of 7 ft?
Comments (14)Lampert Dias Architects, Inc.We are in Texas and it gets really hot, up to 110 degrees in the Summer and Winter just lasted for about 2 months last year (~36 degrees) Personally, I really like full windows for a full clear view, thats why I chose fixed windows in the family room, while the breakfast bay window (on the right of pic) could be open for ventilation in the kitchen area. I'm not sure what brand, it was an option the builder suggested (either 3060 or 3070)...I'll be meeting the builder to finalize all the options this weekend, I can probably ask and see if they could also do the transom bigger and operable as you mentioned earlier I actually requested to bump the ceiling height in family room from 10 ft to 12 ft too so I can accommodate bigger windows and have some dimensions between the kitchen and family room...but it was quite expensive so we didnt go with that route....See MoreDo 7ft tall doors look ok if only 30" wide?

Comments (19)We have 10’ ceilings and an 8’ door. We replaced the original wood, which had warped (south facing, but covered), with fiberglass. Can’t even tell you what it cost because the guy at the lumberyard is a bit of a dolt and kept changing the order after discovering various things. Anyway, it’s a great door, secure and efficient....See MoreWhere can I find a 7-8ft long yard stick?
Comments (3)I would say you'll have to use ~3/4" thick stock to have enough meat for the 'L' brackets to screw into, and also to keep the plastic taught without bending the long sides. All available at the big box as "screen mouldings."...See Morejuliacali
