how high off the vanity top should a wall mount water faucet be?
Comments (1)I know I struggled with this when having mine installed. There are so many variables. I found this article online that sort of raps down some of the things to consider. You could also look at houzz and sort by bathroom wall mounted faucet. Luckily, mine worked out great. You can look at mine by searching at the bottom of this page for Treetop (I posted pics with that name). "Julius Ballanco, president of JB Engineering and Code Consulting in Munster, Ind., says since wall-mounted faucets take more abuse, contractors should choose a sturdy one. "I will pay extra money for a solid-brass connection," he says. Bartlett cautions remodelers to make sure they can find parts for whatever type of faucet they choose. Height and depth Bartlett also advises contractors to "measure, measure, measure" when installing these faucets. "Have your sink available to take measurements from to make sure you have the right height," the plumber says. He says that although there's no standard for wall-mounted faucet heights, contractors must leave an air gap between the top of the sink and the bottom of the faucet. "Don't let the faucet go inside the sink -- that's a code violation. You need 1 inch of airspace between the top of the sink's flood level and the bottom of the faucet," he says. On the other hand, if the faucet is too high, he cautions, water will splash out of the sink. Tim Mullally, president of KWC Faucets, in Norcross, Ga., says the company's Vesuno faucet extends 6, 9, or 12 inches from the wall. "The height of the faucet will depend on whether you're using it with a vessel bowl, a bar sink, or an under-mount sink," he says. Since the faucet is mounted on the wall, it also requires a longer reach to operate. Mullally says that if the primary user of the bathroom is a child or is short, make sure they can reach the handles."...See MoreShut off valves for wall mounted vanity faucets
Comments (0)I am using two wall mounted faucets for my master bathroom in my loft. The vanity is a floating counter with 6" drawers below. It is open below(no cabinet box, so the drains (which are partially visible) are a decorative chrome version. My plumber has already run the PEX to the in-wall valves. I would like shut off valves for these fixtures, but I'm not sure what to use. Do they make in-line shut off valves (PEX or copper) that stick out of the wall? I could tuck them up under the counter out of site. What about using inline PEX ball valves in a small recessed box? Suggestions please....See MoreOff Center or Centered Kitchen Faucet in Wide Single Bowl Sink?
Comments (3)colorlady's right - depends on where your drain is. My faucet is not centered on the drain, and I find that a minor annoyance. Just something I didn't think of beforehand....See MoreShow me your faucet placement at off-center window/sinks?
Comments (3)Our sink is not centered under the window, either. Our faucet is configured in a way that is tricky because the faucet's base is "centered" relative to the spout (which is to the left) and the handle (which is attached to the right). It's hard to explain..If you look at the pictures below, you can see what I mean. We had it mounted so that the stream from the spout flows into the drain hole of the sink. Our sink's drain hole is in the center. This faucet placement ended up to the right of center relative to the length (back edge) of the sink. We had the soap dispenser mounted to the left of the faucet to help counter balance the faucet's placement. We are right handed and the soap on the left is no problem at all. As far as the total overall look, I am happy with how things worked out. The fact that the sink & faucet are not in the center of the window does not bother me at all. Have you made any sort of mock up faucet, handle, water filter & air switch? I used a small water bottle with a piece of cardboard taped to it (cut to the approx. size, shape & height of my faucet) to simulate the faucet. You can also make a rough mock up of a water filter with anything around the house. You can put them in various placement scenarios and stand back and see how you like it. If you have the faucet & filter at your home already, then someone can hold them in place for a few minutes while you see if you like it. But, I like the mock up items to be around for a little while (more than a minute) so I can get a better feel for their placement....See MoreRelated Professionals
