What size rug for bedroom?
Comments (2)I personally like area rugs to be as large as possible so they really make a statement. For me having a foot to a foot and a half of wood flooring around the perimeter of the room works well....See MoreWhere should I put my bedroom furniture in our new apartment?
Comments (3)I would put the bed under the window; proven you get more restful secure sleep when the bed is on the wall opposite the entry door. If you plan to have TV here, place the wider dresser left of the door and put TV on it. If no TV, then put the dresser in the alcove so the light from the window will help you see yourself in the mirror (hung vertically.) Place the taller dresser on any of the remaining walls that make it convenient for storing folded clothing that you want to access as you're on your way to the bath. Art and window treatments will help flesh out the rest of the room....See MoreWhat size rug for this bedroom?
Comments (9)Yes, she did paint the entertainment center, @Fun2BHere. Here is a picture from just before they moved in that she sent me. I’m not sure what they are going to use it for. I don’t believe they are going to put a TV in it. There is a TV over the fireplace in the hearth room, one upstairs in the playroom, and another outside in the outdoor living room. She says 3 TVs are enough for any house! Notice, she also replaced the beige ceiling fan with a white ceiling fan. I’m not a fan of ceiling fans, but we are in the south and they are often useful. As soon as the hardware store opens this morning, I’m calling to order knobs for the doors below the shelves. She’s still undecided on what she wants on the entertainment center doors. I think large heavy brass rings would look good. She’s thinking no hardware with push-to-open latches. Thanks for the links to the hypoallergenic rugs. I see that jute is supposed to be a good choice for allergies to dust mites. A neighbor had a jute rug in her living room. I loved it! It was so soft! I have seagrass in the breakfast room. It doesn’t bother me to walk on it barefoot, but there are other family members who moan and groan if they forget their slippers....See MoreWhere should I put my bed in a small rectangular form bedroom?
Comments (11)Window treatments - another decision! Are you firmly set on drapes? Seems they’d have to be window sill length not floor length because of radiator under the window. Agree drapes will take floor space if they’re floor length & they also take wall space as need to extend past windows to stack fully off window when open. Have you considered shades of some kind instead of drapes? I cannot suggest type without knowing need for privacy, view from window, framing around window (casement, sill etc). There are so many options for mounting them, inside / outside, ceiling / window top height etc as well as types - Roman shades, cellular shades. Blinds, silhouettes withCordless raise / lower mechanism etc. From your drawing, appears your window is @ 7 feet long so drapes would fill the bit of wall space on either side of window. Just something to think about which might give more furniture options if floor & aerial space drapes would fill is freed up....See MoreMargo C
