What we did was to put high density insulation behind the cabinets, recess them partway, then put molding around the cabinets to cover the exposed sides. It actually looks much better than either a recessed cabinet or a surface mount. If you have a vanity, as opposed to wall hung or pedestal sinks, see if you can get trim to match your vanity. I have a magnifying mirror between the two sinks. My DH uses it for shaving; I use it for makeup....See MoreDelete builder grade mirrors and knee space in master bath?
Comments (3)For the mirror, put the builder's special in and then go to a framing store and ask them to cut you four pieces to go around the outside. Then you can use something like construction adhesive to glue the frame around the mirror. This would have allowed us to make the shower a bit wider. But there is actually a chimney that runs between those two windows so the windows will be staying where they are and we will only widen the shower by about 6 inches. pricklypearcactus - We have debated replacing the wall (or at least the top half of it) with glass. One downside of doing this is you lose a little privacy in the shower and since there is no door from the bedroom into the bathroom, I like that if I need to I can toss my big towel over the shower door while showering and have a little privacy. (My kids are teenagers now, so they no longer walk in while I am showering, but . . . ) Mayflowers - You are correct that the only place for a towel rack currently is on the rack by the tub, which is not convenient. I like the idea of putting it on the wall by the shower. I am standing in the bathroom now trying to imagine what the space would be like without the Ls and with a 42 inch space between the vanity edge and the shower. If we nixed the Ls, I think we could square off the shower entrance so it didn't have that angle. But then we would either need to change the entrance to the toilet room or that side would be left with the angled entrance. Thoughts?...See Morebathroom mirror and wall sconces spacing
Comments (0)Hello. We are doing bathroom remodeling and everything goes not the way I planned ♀️ Anyways, we though we will put 60in single vanity and built the niche for recessed 40x30in lighted Kohler mirror/medicine cabinet. That would have look great with single sink vanity. However, we changed our mind and bough 60in double vanity But we have this mirror and all the electrical and niche ready for that mirror. I am afraid it will look small and not good due to double sink vanity. So I was thinking to put wall sconces around the mirror. The problem is I only have 7.25 inches of space between mirror and the wall. Would it be enough to put 5in wide sconces in order for it to look good? Also should I do electrical sconces or look for candle once, since mirror already coming with the lighting? I want this bathroom to look good and not sure what am I doing anymore. Please help P.S. on the picture is the photo of the wall space with measurements....See Moretypeandrun
