Comments (10)Bluebird...you don't say what kind of red onions you have. Onions bulb based on the amount of daylight. I believe that you are are in a long daylight area, the onions should have been a long daylight variety Also, your spring and this summer has been much like ours here in Oregon. It has been wet and cool. I think that it is way too soon to think about harvest. The onions will be ready to harvest after the tops fall over and START TO DIE. Unless it rains a lot there is no damage done to leave them in the ground after they are no longer growing. So be patient. My onions here are well behind other previous crops. A rule of thumb I use is to stop watering after the 4th of July...but this year I will extend that date. Good Luck!...See MoreHas anyone had success using a 10's unit?
Comments (5)Have you been seen by a physical therapist? That is the person who can give you the most info on exercises & Tens units. But they sometimes don't want to give info out. I asked at a hospital physical therapy unit if they had a page of placement spots for migraines for my tens unit that my dr. had ordered for me. They come with almost no info. The hospital people acted like I had lost my mind, asking for their secrets! No way, only patients here get that info. Since I didn't have insurance at the time I left. I didn't have much luck but few yrs ago I got another unit that seems to help more but Butterbur herb from Germany that they have to give kids now for their migraines- takes 3 mos of daily capsules to start working but some kids get rid of their headaches permanently after couple of years. Adults were supposed to get about 60% better. Sounded good to me. After 3 yrs on it I'm 85-90% better! Got a good part of my life back. Whole Foods has the herb. it hasn't had any side effects & no interactions with food or meds. Don't take hardly any migraine meds. Used to have daily headaches. Barometric changes still mess me up & smoke of any kind(so far no fires in mountains this year) Back to tens unit, I think it helped 2nd time around but I didn't keep up with it as I was doing so much better. This was while I had stress of 2 ill parents. I wonder if a glucosamine 1500mg-chondroitin-1200mg. Would help- it works on dogs & sure works on my joints. It has VitD3-1000mg added in 1 I get at Sam's Club but lot of them add MSM & I get sick from that so stick with 1 that works. It kind of strengthens or lubricates joints. Comments (30)So far, Darcey Bussell has been my best DA performer. She’s not a favorite, only because I prefer softer colors. She remains “fairly” compact, relative to most DA’s here. She never seems to mind pruning, no matter when or how often. She blooms all the time and makes a better cut flower than most DA’s. I don’t get any disease on her here, although Embothrium has big problems with something like downey mildew on Darcey Bussell. I don’t think that’s in a dry Mediterranean climate, though. Mine is always healthy and happy. She’s in a rather small bed, so she’s cut back often. She doesn’t receive more water than anything else does, and doesn’t seem to need it. My soil is clay, so it does retain water well and is full of nutrients. Abraham Darby on the other hand, DOES want extra water here. I have never experienced rust(other than on hollyhocks), until recently. I’d been very busy over the past month or so, and must have slacked off on watering, just a little. Nobody minded except for AD. This, combined with the wind and 3-5% humidity produced a spectacular case of rust on Abraham Darby. Even though I’ve never seen rust on my roses before, it’s so bad that there’s no mistaking what it is. I’m not even sure what to do about it. I’m giving him lots of extra water, and thinking of pruning him down to almost the ground. I’m worried about spreading the rust, even while pruning. Last night, I went out late to move the hose with my headlamp on. I removed a spent bloom from AD, and in the light beam I could see tiny dust like particles floating off. I can only assume they were rust particles. I fear that while pruning the rust will blow everywhere. So AD definitely wants extra water. He’s brought me my first case of rust on a rose bush.
