Bona Nordicseal on red oak
Comments (357)Casa Rutherford- sorry im just now seeing this! here is the exact recipe according to my floor guy 50/50 country white and paint thinner mix One coat Bona Natural Two coats Bona (mega one) Update since last i posted is that thd floors ended up a little too matte in texture. They came back, buffed, and put a coat of bona satin traffic on them for added protection. This did not change the color however and the pics I posted were before that addition. My floors looked peach to me in the beginning too but as i got used to them i realized they were really pretty it just took a bit of time to sit with. Most people seem to have better luck with nordic seal but I just didnt want that look I wanted them to retain more natural color....See MoreAlternative to Bona NaturalSeal, Classic or Nordic on white oak?
Comments (31)Carly, please provide source for your floors, exactly what I’m looking for. Also thank you for post and thank you too other posters. I had just had floors done by a floor shop, two years of hospice requires me to redo them, seems a layer can be scraped up with a spackle scraper easily and turned dark ( like cherry wood does in sunlight but this was white oak ). So due to budget going to have to give this a go on my own. These posts priceless. After seeing this post and refinishing parents floor, I want your oak in my house … you did fantastic job....See MoreHas anyone put Nordicseal over a coat of Country White (on red oak)?
Comments (17)i know this is an old thread but i was hoping Jenn A. or Sarah might answer. We have the same issue with red oak upstairs and on the stairs and white oak downstairs. Our white oak was damaged and has to be replaced so we were hoping to go with a lighter (non red/non pink) stain on all the floors. We’ve been told by our flooring guy that its impossible to match the red oak and white oak to be close enough in color to look good if we go lighter. We’re thinking we’ll have to replace the white oak with red oak so there will be continuity. How do your floors look between the two floors..is it a jarring difference between the red and white oak or is the difference ok in your opinion? Thank you..losing sleep over this decision…...See More2 coats of bona naturalseal? Floors being redone 3rd time -
Comments (2)NaturalSeal is a nice light sealant. If you don't like the slightly deepened colour tone, you may have to work with the single coat of NordicSeal. Sadly white oak must have a sealant. Nordic adds a hint of 'frosting' while NaturalSeal adds a snick of deeper colour. One lightens...the other adds more depth (aka...darkness) to the wood. Go ahead and ask for a colour patch of NordicSeal and a patch of NaturalSeal both with a coat of Bona Traffic HD. Choose the one that FEELS like the airy soft white oak you are looking for....See Morehawami
