Bloomberg v Trump twitter war

graywings123(7)

I believe some people are going to support Bloomberg as the Democratic candidate for President just for the entertainment value.

I have no problem with the twitter war. You fight fire with fire. Even if Bloomberg doesn't get the nomination, he will continue the assault and it will be entertaining. Trump might have met his match.

Editing to add, Bloomberg can most likely spell and compose a coherent thought so the contrast between his and Trump's twitter posts will be even more entertaining.

Bloomberg is on the move.

Closing ever closer to Bernie.

These green and red ticks, up and down, are in regard to the previous day.

You see it across the whole board:

https://www.predictit.org/markets/1/Dem-Nomination

By my little magic calculations, Bernie is now slightly less likely than Bloomberg in being able to beat Trump if they were to go head to head.

The Republicans are still the favorites. Mostly, apparently, due to the ineptness of the Democratic leadership under Schiff, Pelosi, Schumer, AOC, et al. There's your losers for the past few months: Your leaders. And you cheered them on.

For our Queen:

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness"

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/13/style/michael-bloomberg-memes-jerry-media.html

"Michael Bloomberg’s Campaign Suddenly Drops Memes Everywhere

A campaign of sponsored content for the candidate flourished suddenly on Instagram. A new outfit, called Meme 2020, is behind it.

Mike Bloomberg has contracted some of the biggest meme-makers on the internet to post sponsored content on Instagram promoting his presidential campaign."

Competing against an old, supposedly rich, white man......

That's why Amy K. would balance out the ticket nicely with either Biden or Bloomberg. She'd make a great contrast to Pence and has enough experience to assume the presidency if necessary.

She wouldn't be a good fit for Bernie though. She's not into the socialist movement.

Actually Im liking the Bernie/Amy combo. No, she is not into socialism, but she is a pragmatist and consensus builder, or so she is marketing herself as.... they have high regard for each other, I think they would work well together and pull together the divergent wings of the party. Thats what has to happen IMHO

While it is entertaining, I hate to see a candidate (or anyone) stoop to Trump's level.

And yet, after 3 years of Trump's behaviour it is evident he does not respond to those 'taking the high road'. Sometimes you have to fight at the level he understands.

More sad than funny.

The reality, unfortunately, is that the winner of the trash-talking, schoolyard taunting, meme, twitter war will be our next President.

I can envision a ticket of Bernie/Klobuchar. The latter has declared she is a capitalist and would bring a sense of balance. By the same token, I can see a Bernie/Stacy Abrams ticket. Abrams would fill the minority/ female category and she is a capitalist. Bernie would need a more moderate running mate to check him a bit in order to win, I think.

Klobuchar has been on the upswing.

I'd imagine Bloomberg could be looking at her.

Nina Turner? One of Bernie's cronies. That's her main qualifications.

Bernie gets elected. Nina is our next President is not unrealistic.

I am highly entertained over the Democratic voter's choices boiling down to either a Marxist Socialist vs. an old white billionaire guy, who used to be a Republican, and is now buying his election.

I loved when Bloomberg said the only height that mattered is above the shoulders.

The difference between Bloomberg and Trump is one has a conscience and is actually wealthy.

Another difference is that one is a big enough of a man to apologize when he was wrong and the other will never apologize for anything even if his life depended on it...

You can consider it buying an election. I consider it using his money to do what it takes to get Trump out of office. The added bonus is that he's much less likely to be swayed by special interest groups or major donors. In a perfect world, our elections would be financed by public funds. Until our elected officials enact such laws, there will always be candidates who are able to spend more than others on a campaign.

“The added bonus is that he's much less likely to be swayed by special interest groups or major donors.”

That’s what people thought about Trump too.

The thing is, people don’t get enormously wealthy by saying “no thanks” to opportunities to make more.

I’m not saying Bloomberg is corrupt or sway-able or buyable or anything like that, I just feel really uncomfortable with that reasoning.

He doesn't have any charisma. Above or below the shoulders, he is not appealing. Once (and if) he gets on a stage with Trump, Trump will map the floor with this 5 feet mop.

Hi bfox254 and miss ilndsey, Bloomberg has a special interest. It's called China.

Bloomberg’s wealth is partly derived from his company’s expansion far
beyond its New York City roots. Bloomberg’s company opened offices in Beijing
25 years ago, selling its computer terminal and financial information
subscriptions. Bloomberg has long held the view that a “growing Chinese economy is good for America,” as he wrote in a 2008 article in Newsweek. Bloomberg said that “we have a stake in working together to solve common problems, rather than trying to browbeat or intimidate the other into action.”

As Bloomberg has urged cooperation with China, questions have been raised
about whether his news service has held back from publishing information that
would offend the Chinese leadership, because of concern that the government
would expel his employees.

Trump accepted campaign donations. Remember Sondland who donated a million dollars and bought himself an ambassadorship? (How did that work out for Trump?) Remember Trump making a pathetically weak attempt to stand up to the NRA after the Florida school shootings, then quickly backing down under pressure?

I don't think Bloomberg will attempt to monetize the presidency for personal gain. He'll be able to stand up to interest groups like the NRA because he has nothing to lose. He probably won't care if he gets reelected as long as Trump is gone.

Should he get the nomination, it will be interesting to see how he handles his business dealings. Will he sell? I bet he releases his tax returns.

Bloomberg: Started out strong this morning. Keeps going stronger.

My memes are better than your memes.

And there it is, in black and white, as clear as it can be why I said earlier today that, if Bloomberg goes head to head with Trump, he'd have a better chance at winning than would Bernie.

That's what the bettors are betting.

“ (m-dina said of M. Bloomberg) He doesn't have any charisma. Above or below the shoulders, he is not appealing. Once (and if) he gets on a stage with Trump, Trump will map the floor with this 5 feet mop.”

Charisma is in the imagination of the beholder. IMpostus has zero charisma (unless that’s the brand of his bronze makeup). He is a carnival barker, a huckster. But I can understand how he appeals to the unsophisticated villager lacking vision, grace and depth.*

I prefer someone who thinks, reads, is charitable and articulate (for starters). Onstage with the portly, out of shape, French fry filled Don? Bloomberg will only have to put his preferred foot forward —- and step on the mobster’s extra long tie as Donny leans back to sniff and stagger.

I hope Ivanka and Jared got him to complete the DNR form.

edit

ETA: * And to white supremacists, bigot, grifters, other hucksters and lawless opportunists, people lacking compassion and empathy, people self satisfied with a small, comfortable tidy narrow mind. The sort of persons who would not be outraged by thousands of migrant and refuge seeking children cruelly and intentionally forever stollen from and lost to their families. People who refuse to see dedicated civil servants, veterans, war heroes, diplomats smeared and impugned, their careers in shreds because of an ignorant, brutal, vindictive snake pretending to be a victimized president.

^^^ says a lot about Mr. Trump.

Pointing to real facts (T is an habitual liar, cheat, huckster, expert marketer, con man, criminal) is not the same as taking someone down.

If a marks feel uncomfortable with being identified as a mark, they might want to examine their willingness to be so exploited.

ETA: an added paragraph to my post prior to this one

Normal political candidates are used to dealing with other normal political candidates. Trump is not normal, and Bloomberg knows him well, knows his soft spots. I’m sorry to see all these low blows and tweets, it’s below us, but for dt it works. Bloomberg doesn’t mind getting down in the gutter with the “man.”

Those liberal college kids are just so smart now, and know so much about life and their future at that age. (eye roll)

Yes they are, and those liberal college kids will be the ones voting when many are old and need govt. support. Their compassion for others may very well be important to the elderly.
