catty: I should think so since he certainly cannot be on the R ticket. It's a good lesson though why Bloomberg might be the answer. I have a feeling there are plenty of republicans who would vote for him - even if it's just for old time's sake.

Trump took down his tweet calling Bloomberg a total racist because Trump himself said Stop and Frisk worked good in NYC and wanted to reinstate it.

I don’t know. I’m pretty sold on Bernie after all the trumpers saying such nice things about him. There must be a good reason why they are selling him so hard. Right?

Kathy - I was reading/watching Bloomberg’s 2015 (?) comments earlier on Fox. They were kind of laughing it off as let the Dem’s fight about that one. They’re probably right. Bloomberg has had plenty of time to think up a response, hopefully it’s better than Pete’s wide eyes.

Cattyles - I’ve heard one too many Trump haters say they’re not sure who they’d vote for if it comes down to him or Bernie. “The devil you know” sort of rationale. It’s a little concerning.

Seems like I keep getting told on HT that no one else is running as a republican? Eh, what do I know, people may just write in anyone they want and beat him. Wouldn't that be interesting.

Or when he finds out he lost and he's the only name on the ballot. That's kind of hard to do! He's going to find out he really is a Loser the hard way.

Dixville Notch is are the first primary votes in the nation. They vote at midnight. It's a tradition. Although there are few people, the one republican in town voted for Bloomberg. A sign of things to come, I hope.

Oh and by the way in 2016 Trump did get two votes in Dixville Notch.

Here is the vote breakdown:

Dixville Notch Results:
GOP:
Write-in: Bloomberg 1
DEM:
Buttigieg: 1
Write-in: Bloomberg 2
Sanders: 1
Bloomberg carries the GOP & DEM side in Dixville Notch as a write-in. #NHPrimary

I'm surprised he even got two in 2016. New Hampshire was blue in 2016 election.

Kate,

I had a similar thought. What would the meaning be of our write in policy if no Republican was picked at any point? Does that mean they get no candidate?

Interesting data:

''In 1976, President Gerald Ford ran away with the Dixville Notch vote,
beating challenger Ronald Reagan 11 votes to four. In 2008, Sen. Barack
Obama won with seven votes while Sen. John Edwards received two votes,
and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson got one. In 2016, John Kasich won
Dixville Notch with three votes, and Donald Trump came in second with
two.''

I saw that Trump tweeted that "Wow" Bloomberg had a really bad night in NH, apparently not realizing he wasn't even on the ballot in the state.

As usual with Trump, up is down and stupid is as stupid does.

Bloomberg has aligned as a republican and an independent. The parties keep changing, so the alignments do too.

It was cute to watch the 5 people vote:) They stepped behind the flag curtain to fill out their ballots. Then, I liked the pretty/old wooden box they put their ballots in and then used the key to open it. Finally, the woman writing the 5 votes on the board was corrected as she began to place the GOP Bloomberg vote on the Dem side of the board. A couple guys told her a "Republican vote" and she correctly wrote in Bloomberg's name in both columns. Really, it was cute if you missed it. And, yes, the one and only Republican voted for Bloomberg. I think that is a pretty good indication it's all over for Trump:)

Obviously this isn’t earth-shattering news. But it’s kind of interesting and funny AND it will probably make Donnie crazy.

I always saw Bloomberg as a gimmick but maybe he has the necessary cross-over power to gather in moderate conservative voters.

"But it’s kind of interesting and funny AND it will probably make Donnie crazy."

My guess is it's about the very furthest possible thing from "Donnie"'s mind. Any reason you've selected "Donnie" as the name in which you choose to refer to our president?

“Any reason you've selected "Donnie" as the name in which you choose to refer to our president?”

It’s based on context. And because I can.

Donnie hates to lose, and he hates to be made a fool of and he always, always pays attention to what everyone is saying about him. I’m pretty sure he knows this and I bet it bugs him. We won’t know until/unless he tweets or yells at a helicopter about it though I guess.

I just don't see President Trump paying any attention to 5 votes. It's just silly.

The silliness or triviality of a topic has never stopped him from getting outraged about it before.

Honestly I don’t know what people who think he is aloof and above the fray are missing because what I see is him being completely thrown over the edge by the dumbest little things. He’s really fragile emotionally.

His name is Donnie, but there are so many other names that we could all use.

Have you heard how he disrespectfully refers to other people?

What I see is many becoming emotionally fragile by anything Trump does.
