NW DC needs landscape therapist/designer
Comments (3)I realize your problem has undoubtedly been solved by now; I am just entertaining myself by making this post regarding the treed area in front of your new home. Anything done to improve the soil under your two front trees is going to result in hundreds of seedlings that have to be constantly pulled up, unless you either have numerous squirrels who will eat them(they will eat maple seeds), or a very virulent groundcover. If you're not really into gardening and just want an effective groundcover, try Yellow Archangel. It will develop upright stems in spring with rows of pretty little yellow flowers, and has lovely leaves splashed with silvery-white. It will quickly shade out anything else you might plant, though, so be advised. I had a dead spot in front of my house, under the dense shade of a pine tree. By making a little raised edging of rock I was able to contain the mulch and leaf mold I spread there, and over the course of years have been able to grow tough little shrubs and ivy, as well as the Yellow Archangel. You can't make the soil amendments too deep, or you might smother your trees' roots. "Lasagnia gardening" is the way to go in a situation like that; it is much easier than digging holes for plants in soil like concrete, or digging around the trees and harming them. With electrical costs going up, I'm certain you will want to keep your wonderful shade trees! :) Other planting possibilities are Helleborus and Toadlilly, which are low, dark-leafed plants which flower in early spring; and a myriad of woodland plants such as ferns and Solomon's Seal. If you want to do that (a much more costly option), don't introduce the Yellow Archangel or ivy....See MoreBad advice from therapist?
Comments (20)We're talking $88 a month here. This lady is about to pack-up and move herself and her belongs 8 1/2 hours. I will assume she has money for the move? I assume she has a job lined up for when she gets there? She's planning on being 'happy' so happy people normally have all these little details all worked out before they do things like hop in a car and drive off 8 1/2 hours away. If not, what exactly is going to make her 'happy' with this move? How is she going to support herself? In my state, CS paying parents can file temporary stays on ordered support when unexpected hardships arise (sudden loss of job, illness and such... I doubt self happiness is one of the conditions). It does not make the ordered payment go away nor be forgiven, it just delays having to make the payment for a time. It's has to be filed and court approved. Also in my state this BM would be looking at losing her driver's license if she failed to make payments and had failed to file relief/modification. My state has gone to making life not quit so much fun and/or easy if one choses to not make CS payments. No driver's license, if a license/cert is needed to perform a job it is denied until arrangements of CS is in place blah blah. The state is cracking down. It's fairly recent here but it's working. A deadbeat Daddy can't get a hunters or fishing license without paying his ordered support...little things that affect the deadbeats own life suddenly makes a deadbeat remember he/she has CS to pay. I get the 'but so and so does not need the money'... but are not these issues considered and gone over before the support order amount is in place? Until and/or if an order is modified, it is a legal order due and payable. If this BM needs a modification in amount and/or desires to temporarily cease payments, it should be done legally. I think asking OP's DH here to waive ordered support by just a mutual private decision could come back and bite somebody on the buns....See MoreNeed gift ideas for my son's tutor/therapist please!
Comments (18)::: furrowing brow ::: Not true. I am not sure if that could have been accurate in the past, but it isn't now. It also may have been that you misunderstood the "valid thru" date, which applies to the physical card, not the balance you have. From Amex: Are there any fees for the use of the Card after purchase? The Card has NO FEES AFTER PURCHASE (including dormancy, service or other fees). Do the funds on the Card expire? No, the funds on the Card do not expire. If the funds do not expire, what is the "valid thru" date associated with the Card? The "valid thru" date on the front of the Gift Card or associated with the eGift Card is the date through which your physical plastic Gift Card or eGift Card card number may be used. This date is required to process transactions at merchants that request an expiration date. Even if the "valid thru" date associated with a Card has passed, its Available Balance remains unchanged and intact. In order to keep making purchases with your Available Balance after a Card's "valid thru" date has passed, please call 1-877-297-4438 for a free replacement Card. Some of the more onerous gift card business practices have been regulated. If you still have the info, or if it ever happens again, complain. Maybe you can sue them. Or, uhh not... thank you VP Pence....See MoreNeed your advice - office paint
Comments (2)I'm trying to figure something similar for my master bath remodel. With such a dark paint, I'd do a classic bright white on the wainscot & ceiling. My only fear is that the wall color looks like it would clash (shows as cream in pics). A warm natural stain for the door & replace the clear glass with frosted panes (or if your crafty & have a steady hand, diy it)....See Morenoreaster10
