Congratulations on your new home! I think you'll get more replies if you post a room layout with dimensions, doors, windows, etc. I'm not a space designer but will get the conversation started with a couple of thoughts.

Desks don't have to face the wall. They can be positioned perpendicular to a wall or away from a wall with the chair between the desk and wall. Will either of those options work for you?

Don't overlook the closet. Closets with slider doors can be outfitted with shelving to house printers, supplies, charging station etc. You might need to add an electrical outlet. I've also seen similar closets converted to office space with a desk height slab the width of the closet and narrow shelves above. That might work well for someone who uses the space part-time. Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable will chime in soon.

P.S. Looks like there are already two desk in the room. Is that your furniture?

Here's a rough floor plan using the IKEA Home Planner tool (not quite sure what the best tool to use is...).

Either of the options you mention would definitely work for us! I guess the biggest thing with the desk being away from the wall would be hiding the multiple wires, but I'm sure there's a solution out there for doing that. :)

And shirlpp - thanks for your question! Ideally, we'd have 2 sit/stands (or even just the attachment that gets placed on top of a desk), but I know that can be a bit pricey.

We do have 2 desks in the room already, but the dark wood one is too short for me (I can't cross my legs and have to slouch a lot :(). The other desk was left here by the previous home owner and has seen better days. It also doesn't have any drawers for storage.

I love the idea of using the closet for storage / shelves. I tried to put a Target cubby in there for the time being, but would love something more permanent (and that actually goes wall to wall in there).
