miele w1753 washing machine, increase water level?

Hello, just purchased the Miele w1753, and am concerned that the water usage is soooo low (as in no splash, just moistened items being slung around- including for the rinse phase) when using the Extra White cycle.or any of the options where it allows a wash of 60+ degrees. I think there is different functionality for the European version such as water plus+ and adjstable settings for rinse levels. I called Miele, and they said the machine knows how much water to use in different situations so there is no adjusting. Anyone have experience with this machine and/or success with hot cycles in terms of water level? Thanks in advance for any input.

The 'Sensitive' button increases the amount of water per page 16 of the instruction manual.

Thanks- I'll be asking the miele technician why I am unable to access these option (supposed to be coming Friday). The instructions in the manual you included the link to are actually omitted from the manual I received with the machine (I did none the less follow the instructions from the manual that has them included, although without success); I'm guessing an earlier version of the same model included this functionality, but not mine, which is very frustrating. Do you have this particular model of machine and are able to access these functions?

fairy, 1. there is no source of water near my washer.' 2. as seldom as i feel the need to add water, "wear and tear" is hardly a concern. Even if I did it every day, it's not a concern to open the door an extra few times. LOL! 3. the time it takes to do what I described is much faster than u may think. u don't even have to wait for the door lock to engage after hitting the "pause/run" button. Simply hit the button, open the door, close it, hit the button again, and wait a few seconds for it to fill, and BEFORE the door locks, open it again... For anyone with close access to water, OF COURSE that would be simpler.

The Infusor agitator on the two GE models you cite is similar to the impeller/washplate of the Oasis/Cabrio/Bravos, AquaSmart, and Harmony, but has a short centerpost (which may help reduce tangling). I suspect that the highest fill is no more than to top of the Infusor post ... which may be about the same as what the Oasis/Cabrio/Bravos do on a Bulky cycle. However, both models do provide for manual control of the water level (in addition to a choice for automatic sensing), so you could run a moderate-size load of diapers on the highest fill and probably meet your needs for water and rinsing.

Wow! That is real - deal thinking -cap on engineering- 5 year all in warranty and designed for 20 years. Not denying Miele also has some real - deal engineering and I would admit Miele probably even a better build but not a tank like Speed Queen. Miele- excellent but too small for the 120 volt one, and quite a bit of money - I noted comment about doing laundry all weekend. It was at least $500 more and it was tiny. So it was out. Electrolux - suitable machine no doubt about it- more features- very easy to use controls- unlike 'guessing at kind of' on the SQ.. And Elctrolux has alight in it -kind of neat! - and steam clean - an excellent machine. and could be installed for at or about $1,200 all in. I like Jerrod's suggestion to look at the clean out area at the pump, what ever that is called, lower left front. His comment makes sense to me. Carolina, front loaders clean mechanically too, it tumbles the clothing into a pool of water. This pool of water is, I believe, calculated for depth depending on the programmed cycle. For example "dress shirts" cycle has a deep pool and softens fall of the tumbled clothes. "Whites" is a shallower pool and the fall with each tumble is more aggressive. I also doubt that the 3 hour trip for the washer did anything, unless they tipped the machine onto its side. I have transported 2 old Mieles 6 hour distances without the shipping struts. One machine, the struts were missing, the other I tried using my modern struts and only got one inside to sort of brace the drum. Anyway the machines are fine. Getting jostled down a flight of stairs with a dolly to the basement, without the struts in place. One machine I opened and tested the shocks, as @Linus (Bjorn) suggested and they were perfect.

I'd go to the Miele website and download the manual for your machine (you have to enter the model and serial number if I remember correctly) and follow those instructions.

I've been researching this machine as a possibility to purchase. Your concerns with the water levels on hot cycles are something I'm worried about as well. I wash cloth diapers so definitely need some serious washing and rinsing. I came across a way to get an extra rinse independent of the sensitive button which I know doesn't work on the extra white cycle. For cycles that do allow the sensitive button to be active, this would provide an extra rinse above the sensitive button extra rinse so 2 extra rinses. You have to select a spin speed of less than 700 RPM (so 600 RPM) which forces an extra rinse. On older Miele models, if you change the spin speed to the higher RPM you desire after the machine has started on the first rinse you can still get the extra rinse and have higher spin speeds. I don't know if this would work on your machine specifically. I'd be interested to hear how it works for you if you try it! Any further thoughts on the machine a few more months in?
