Senator Elizabeth Warren was spotted getting off a private plane ahead of the Iowa caucus - with Trump supporters accusing her of trying to hide when she realized she was being filmed.

The Democratic presidential candidate touched down in Des Moines on Monday on the private jet ahead of the caucus.

Footage obtained by Fox News showed the 70-year-old stepping off the plane with several campaign staffers.

Elizabeth Warren: "Life on Earth is at risk" because of CO2 emissions.

But not at risk enough for me to give up the convenience of flying on this private jet then hiding behind a staffer when I'm caught.pic.twitter.com/p7cobXdLzG
— Paul Joseph Watson (@PrisonPlanet) February 4, 2020

The Massachusetts senator could be seen thanking a member of the ground staff before making her way towards the airport building.

She was filmed following closely behind two female staffers.

Several Trump supporters quickly started shared the footage of Twitter as they accused Warren of trying to hide behind the staffers when she spotted the camera.

Some pointed to her being a Green New Deal advocate and claimed she was being hypocritical by flying on a private jet.

'Hey @SenWarren why you trying to hide behind your staffer after you just got off that gas-guzzling private plane? Guess climate change is a hoax?' one critic tweeted.

Warren, who regularly rallies against the wealthy and said last year she is 'tired of freeloading billionaires', tweeted last week about a Trump official using taxpayer's money to fly on private jets.

She pays for her private jet trips with her campaign money. Warren spent about $721,000 on private jets last quarter.

Warren and her Democrat opponent Bernie Sanders have been using private planes to fly between Washington D.C. and Iowa during President Trump's impeachment trial.

You think Trump flew commercial when he was campaigning? Bush? Reagan? I don’t think it’s the least bit unusual for candidates to use private jets, paid by the campaign. Trying to schedule commercial flights would be a nightmare, not to mention waiting at airports, going through security, etc. Warren, Klobuchar, Sanders are senators and they simply do not have the time for commercial flights while campaigning.

You want to be mad at someone? How about your guy who has bilked the taxpayers for millions for his trips to MAL?!

Just more faux outrage from the right.

But this is a perfect example of liberalism - you, peasants, do as I say, not as I do. Because somehow - only intellectuals heavy on hallucinogens understand - it is possible to pollute the air by the useless trips to the useless conferences and save the planet from the pollution at the same time.

Let the person in front of you block the cold icy wind a bit, if that even. Talk about making things up to fit whatever narrative you want to have, this is a classic example of that.

The video is funny! Especially when the staffer looks at and notices the camera and immediately looks away. I think that might have been a ding ding ding point for her as she was distracted by her phone prior to that. I wonder if, at that moment, she felt Warren walking practically on her (the staffer's) heels and practically breathing down her jacket:)

“You either fly airplanes and shut up about ''climate change'' or you do teleconferences to prove that you are saving the planet from at least your carbon foot print.”

There are day to day changes that can be made to minimize a person’s carbon footprint so that the big-ticket items like air travel have less impact on your personal footprint overall.

Are you suggesting she teleconference in to a campaign event? Surely you’re not so disingenuous as to pretend she or anyone would be a successful candidate if they did that?

Maybe if a “progressive liberal socialist eco warrior” gets elected there will be some investment in rail infrastructure, so that during the next campaign candidates can travel in quiet, zero emissions trains. Fingers are crossed.

(Also it’s not that hard to sit with one butt in two chairs. It’s not comfy, but it’s possible. Useful if you need to squish three people into two spots.)

There are a bunch of explanations if you feel she was trying to hide. How about she wasn't camera ready. Was tired and has had little sleep. Slept on plane and is feeling a little rumpled. Would rather look her best for the cameras than getting torn apart for her "looks". You would be lying to yourself if you would want your picture plastered of your just got out of bed face plastered across the internet. Agreed. Trump supporters seem to think that showing concern about the environment means someone must be 100% perfect with zero carbon footprint.

No one expects people to give up flying or driving or anything else that has an environmental impact. But if people are aware and help mitigate some of those activities and make thoughtful choices, it would make a difference.

Has Warren ever said that people need to stop using private jets entirely? That would be hypocritical, but I haven't seen any statements like that.

Don't put words in my mouth please, Joaniepoanie. And realize the difference between an EMERGENCY and ELITISM FLYING A PRIVATE JET to a CONFERENCE of no real resonance.

EMERGENCY is that - an emergency. You do what you have to do.

There is no EMERGENCY to FLY a PRIVATE JET to some climate conference when it can be held via TELECONFERENCE.

Did you read the massive backslash the last climate change conference in Greece received when the world elite EACH flew a private jet to get there and stayed in the best resorts occupying huge suits but spoke about ''climate catastrophe'' barefoot and with tears in their eyes ? No? You should. You will find out that people obviously don't buy hypocrisy.

As of Warren, she could have chosen some transportation with less carbon footprint to travel to her destinations since she is so concerned with the climate change.

Don’t put words in my mouth. I did not say flying to a conference was an emergency. You said people who fly should shut up about climate change. I took that as anyone who flies, in your book, can’t or shouldn’t be pro environment.

Do you know people who are flying private jets to climate conferences?

By your way of thinking, there should be no conferences in person, they should all be teleconferences. Portions might be viable via teleconference but over all, not practical and it’s not gonna happen. Doesn’t make climate conference goers hypocritical.

Again, this is just more fake outrage to disparage a Dem candidate. Time might be better spent researching the lies Trump told at the SOTU, errr Trump rally, Tuesday night.

Seriously elvis? What possible answer could anyone give to your rhetoricals? I could say “zero” to all of them but that would be virtue signalling and why would anyone believe me anyway? I could say “everyday” and you would say that I have no right to demand better of governments and industry.

But in fact the sad truth is that individual actions make almost no difference in environmental health. No matter how many times I eschew plastic, I cannot compensate for the chemicals being dumped into our waterways or the toxic waste leeching into our groundwater or the destruction of habitat for mining, drilling, fracking, and industrial farming. Those industrial level polluters take governmental interventions to disrupt.

So which statement is true?

Chi: But if people are aware and help mitigate some of those activities and make thoughtful choices, it would make a difference.

Lindsey: But in fact the sad truth is that individual actions make almost no difference in environmental health.

98% (estimate) of what I learn and teach and do at business conferences is *not* possible over telecommunications. If you think it is, it is clear you’ve never been to one.

However, Elizabeth Warren was *not* traveling to a conference so the original point about why she is a hypocrite for flying is irrelevant. She felt that as a candidate her presence was necessary at that event, and unfortunately there is no better alternative to air travel to get her there.

I can sit my trim butt on two chairs and I *can* have it both ways.

Making individual decisions to reduce the carbon footprint of an individual is possible. If I drive my car half as much in 2020 as I did in 2019 I have reduced my personal carbon footprint, have I not? I flew twice in 2019 and barring an emergency I do not plan to fly at all in 2020. My carbon footprint is lowered because of that.

And that will not make one whit of difference to the cleanliness of our air and water (the topic of the other thread). Only a magical industrial philosophy shift toward not polluting OR strictly enforced government regulations will do that.
