Sadly, this kind of stupid exists on both sides of the aisle.

Honey, if you didn't know Pete Buttigieg is gay, you are too uninformed to be voting for anyone.

You make your choice, sign your card, and then bother to research the person you voted for? Joke’s on you ma’am. Good news for you is that your vote is 100% irrelevant.

Who would know, who would want to know and who would care about something so personal?

It is stupid to cast your vote for someone who you know little to nothing about.

And it's one thing to not know something about a candidate, but quite another to want to change your vote over finding out a candidate's sexual orientation.

I mean, if she found out that he cheated on his pregnant wife with a porn star and wanted to change her vote, I could understand that.

Agreed, Stan Areted. It shouldn't be a factor AT ALL.

I won’t name names Stan but we’ve seen someone specifically express her uncomfortableness with it here. It came from your side of the aisle and not from the person who repeatedly posts wedding pictures for some reason.

———

Well the voter in this video seems to care, deeply.

The First Spouse of each prospective candidate is generally known and cared about. That doesn’t have to be any different simply because they happen to be the same gender.

If the voter cared about the potential First Spouse she had a responsibility to research him/her. If she didn’t do the research it’s a little late to start caring after that ballot is cast, don’t you think?

These people vote.

What's really stupid is that people who think they're so much smarter will turn around and give over their lives to these voters.

These people vote.

It is everyone's right to eschew a candidate for any reason they want.

If a candidate lets a portion of their life overshadow their job that's a good reason to pay attention.

Evidently Buttigieg is doing a poor job of this, as shown in the video.

Of course it is. You asked, “who would want to know and who would care about something so personal?” and I’m just suggesting you might ask two of your friends here. Like the one who just posted the picture AGAIN for some reason.

As for letting that portion of Pete’s life overshadow his job, for all the times I’ve seen him talk I don’t recall him ever mentioning anything about it beyond perhaps mentioning his husband by name. That’s not saying he hasn’t, surely he has, just not making as huge a deal about it as we’ve seen with other firsts. I’ve also not seen anyone from the left, here or elsewhere, make a particularly big deal about it.

While you're out claiming victory before any results have come out, who's minding the store in your crime-ridden city of South Bend, Indiana, St. Pete?

Several Trump fans have commented that PDA by homosexuals creep them out. (At least one did use "creepy".) How does that mesh with having no issues with homosexual intimate relationships?

Maybe it's me FOAS is talking about. Like Margo, I feel uncomfortable when I see him kissing his husband. I know he's gay (but I didn't know that until a while after he announced and I learned it on HT) and I never think about it when he's on his own speaking (unless he brings it up). But, when he's with his husband, if makes me a little uncomfortable to see the physical interaction (hugging and kissing). Then, a male president with a First Man would take some definite adjustment time for me, beginning on Inauguration night when I always look forward to seeing how pretty the First Lady's dress is:)

If I were a Dem, it wouldn't prevent me from placing a vote, but placing a vote also wouldn't prevent me from feeling uncomfortable when watching the physical interaction. If I'm honest about it, I almost like the way British royalty keeps their physical displays of affection to a minimum during public appearances.

ETA: added "(unless he brings it up)".

I have definite issues with the "intimate relationships", and I'd very much prefer to not observe them. I have no issues with the right to make and live one's own choice.

Okay, I strongly disagree with this!!!! Pete fairly regularly plays his homosexuality like a victim card (what he's had to overcome) when he's speaking!

ETA: In fact, if Pete is talking about policy, he's great and I doubt anyone is thinking about him being gay. But, he slips in victimhood and he ruins a perfectly good speech when he does it. I hate it when women play the gender victim card and think it's just as bad when Pete plays the gay victim card.

Victim card? As if there were no homophobia is the US?

I appreciate Buttigieg's comments addressed to Mike Pence and his bigotry.

That’s very honest and expressed quite kindly I think.

One thing to remember is that this is America we are talking about; politicians here display affection for their spouses and we even raise concerns when that affection seems lacking in a couple.

At certain ages kids feel discomfort when their parents kiss. It doesn’t mean their parents should stop kissing does it? It just means the kids have to mature enough to understand it as a healthy expression of love.

“ Pete fairly regularly plays his homosexuality like a victim card (what he's had to overcome) when he's speaking!”

That is a subjective opinion based on the premise that one believes he is *pretending* and guessing that he is feeling like a victim.

Clearly it isn’t a huge part of his campaigning; the woman in this video knew enough about him to want to vote for him but didn’t know that key piece of his life.

Good point and maybe I didn't say it right. It would be more accurate for me to say "uses" instead of "plays". I don't think he's pretending. I think he does, indeed, feel like a victim.
