Reveal: small bath with large format "marblelain" tile
Comments (43)Sorry, I don't know off hand what the grout is. It is my daughters bathroom and I can see if the contractor left some grout at their house when I go there tomorrow to watch my granddaughter and let you know. I do know that the shower valve and tub spout are not off center in the tile so it is just the angle of the picture. The contractor who was also the tile man was an absolute perfectionist and wouldn't allow anything to be "off". He has since done my son's bathroom and I will be using him in the future for my hall bath remodel. I wish everyone could have a contractor like him....See MoreHelp laying out a large format tile for a standard shower
Comments (9)We're interested in a 17x26" Porcelanosa tile. Would this be a good size and would the best layout be vertically because of the 17" width for our 34" shower? I'd say look for the same tile in a smaller size. 17" + 17" would give you one seam /grout line down the center of the shower, which would be odd looking. You may be looking to eliminate grout lines by using a large-scale tile -- and that's a good goal -- but this large tile and your small shower are out of proportion. As for LVT, I'm using it in my bathroom too. Why? Because I'm concerned about aging-in-place, and I want to use the same product throughout the whole house /avoid transitions and thresholds. True, I could use the same shower tile in the bathroom and still have the same number of products /transitions ... but I'd rather go with the softer, knee-and-hip-friendly product. Finally, I have tiled bathrooms now, and I don't enjoy the cold underfoot. Yes, I could go with heated tiles, but why not just use a product that isn't so cold in the first place? My linoleum kitchen floor isn't "cold" in the same way as tile....See Moreseeking help sourcing large format limestone look tile
Comments (242)Thanks! i was thinking that was the case, we just arent sold on tufo and dont want all gray. But want the look of these tiles. we currently have a beige travertine (chisled in versaille patternen) in our current house that weve been happy with but looking to get away from beige and looking for only the 16x24 look. we like the avorio from pictures weve seen but i dont think it will match the shower wall we picked out (white dolomite with gray streaks). Does the avorio look yellowish to you?...See MoreCalling all large tile format installation experts! Advice please
Comments (13)Cool tile! We have this size on our floors and no issues. It’s been there for 3 years. We are having the same guys install 48” x 48” on our bathroom floor and walls in a few weeks. They are very meticulous and have experience with all kinds of tile, including larger format ones. We did a lot of research before calling for quotes. When deciding on the installer, we asked for references and asked them questions on how they planned to install, what material they were using etc. That helped us get a good installer. Best of luck with your project!...See MoreRelated Professionals
