Trim ideas around 4x4 interior column

Andrew

We recently removed a half-wall with cabinets and countertop to open up an area between our kitchen and greatroom. A 4x4 structural post is now fully (ceiling to floor) exposed in between the two rooms. The default solution is to encase all four sides with drywall and cornerbead then install the same crown, base, and shoe as the rest of the adjacent rooms. As an alternative I am looking for ideas to cover the post with trim. Most of the “pre-packaged” post trim solutions seem to be geared towards exterior patio/deck scenarios.

Any suggestions and/or tips are appreciated
