SPRING is here... Seasonal thread part 5
Comments (242)A few more things blooming today. We had another full day of rain today, but the sun came out at about 7 pm and it's quite warm & humid. I think the plants are loving it. First picture is more chokecherry blooms, then my butterfly magnolia. It's a small tree still, but double the blooms from last year. Last pic is one of my geums. Always one of the first perennials to bloom. Early irises are coming next as well as the lilacs. My peony just shot up 6 inches since yesterday and I can see the buds too. Roses are really starting to grow. Other than a few that look pathetic. Oh and when Diane mentioned the size of her Julia's I had to laugh, since mine is currently 8 inches × 6 inches!...See MoreFALL is here! Seasonal thread part 5
Comments (135)Trish, I thought Rosie was asleep in your bed. But now she's asleep on your arm. Goodness. I'm awful--the cats are barely allowed into my bedroom, let alone into my bed. Of course, Clancy has an icky sneezing problem. Thanks, for your comment on Love Song. Is she available in Australia? I think that rose would love your weather. Snooty magazine "Travel and Leisure", features Australia as its "destination of the year". I haven't read it yet, but one writer chronicles his 1242 mile drive from Perth to Ningaloo Marine Park. I think he's interested in the coral reef (which I've read is having problems). How is the smoke at your place? Has your daughter made it to Melbourne yet (or I am all mixed up again?)? It's getting colder here, and I'm going out to do more cleanup. They are predicting snow in a few days--gah. More premature winter. Thanks, Jim. I wish for things to come down out of the air for you. Thinking of you. Diane...See MoreWINTER is here! Seasonal thread part 1
Comments (170)Congratulations, Lisa!! You are in for the ride of your life. This is why we have kids, right, so we get grand babies. Just kidding. I loved every minute with my own babies, but grand babies are something special. Jim, Ezra is a good looking little guy. Love seeing how these little ones grow. And, congratulations to you, Kristine!! What a joyful way to start the new year for you and Lisa!...See MoreWINTER is here! Seasonal thread part 2
Comments (142)Diane, your Augusta Luise is so beautiful! Sure enjoy seeing those pictures. We had probably not more than about two inches of snow. It started Friday night into early yesterday morning. It never got above freezing yesterday, but began rapidly warming up today, the snow has already disappeared. We’re supposed to have mild weather for the next few days. Sometimes I think a big snow that would hang around for awhile would be beneficial, that’s very rare here, I’m not used to it. Thank you, I appreciate those kind words about my roses. I had almost the exact varieties of roses I wanted in the big bed and they did pretty good through about 2015, then a few of them started growing backwards, so I keep replacing them. Most of the ones planted along the front of my house seem to be hanging in there. The roses shown are less than half of the roses I have. Here‘s one that I hope gets with it next year. I’ve seen pictures of this one in full bloom that look so gorgeous! CRAZY LOVE...See MoreKenneth zone 7A - Southern Middle TN
