<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>It is the chimney in the middle of our house that vents the furnace. it used to vent an old oil furnace. we have already done the floor, and at this point I haven't made any decisions on how I'm decorating...I know not very helpful. I do know that I'm doing glass shelves, though... if that's helpful... everything else I'm drawing a total blank.

My master bath currently has bone colored tiles with white floor tiles and white tub, toilet, vanities... when I moved here the walls were painted spring green with gold fixtures everywhere and it made me nauseous! The bone colored tile looked so dirty! We got rid of the shiny brass fixtures (they were corroded anyways) and replaced them with chrome, and I painted the walls a light blue with a lot of grey in the blue to tone it down. It made the bone colored tile look fabulous! We still need to gut the entire bathroom (shower is unusable and leaks into our family room below, we’ve tried three times to repair it without gutting it because we’ve had to do so many other projects before this bathroom) but at least the bathroom no longer LOOKS bad.

The best way to approach this is to first have an accurate diagram of your entire floorplan with dimensions of everything. The last thing you want to do is to spend a great deal of $$$ adding onto your home with a dysfunctional layout that will reduce the value of your property. I've seen additions that turn a functional floorplan into something that is not at all functional and you don't want to go there. None of us can give you any advice with the information provided other than seek out an architect. You could get better advice with the floorplan and its dimensions including doorways and windows and closet areas.

Hi Patricia, thanks so much for your input, much appreciated. No we can´t have a freestanding bath because of the plumbing. When you say stacked do you mean the 45cm x 90cm (i meant 45cm not 40cm) tile goes with the 90cm going up the wall, or more like bricks going across? Would love to hear from you. My tiler says I need to order soon as its 4-6 weeks to arrive!
