I've inherited an older mining company CJB. (cracker jack box). Perusing the reno posts for great ideas. My (only) bath, now, looks exactly like your "old bath". It is SO small that you could expect to s/s/s in one fluid motion. It's hideous! My budget is meager, by comparison, but I CAN do this by myself! I love that you moved the door,same fix could do wonders here, with the transom to add light to the hallway, Genius! Believe me, mine's not an 1890's Victorian, but EXACTLY the same problems you encountered, right down to the window in the middle of the bath! Love everything about the way you chose to redo it. Love the DIY medicine cabs, they look so polished! Moving the sink, might be the only thing I need to move! Just FABULOUS! My inspiration bathroom! I don't need to gut mine, but, could expect the same results, with minimal renovations. Thank you so much for sharing!

Vineyard, those 18" tiles are beautiful! Wow, you were brave putting such large tiles in such a small space - but it absolutely works. Great color with the cabinets, too, and I *love* the mosaic going into the room! Caroline, I'm so relieved about the cabinet color. I was originally looking at much lighter-colored cabinets, and when I ordered these, I was afraid they'd be too dark and make the whole kitchen dark. But in looking at them - they're not dark at all! Very happy with them. I *am* a little puzzled in how the carpenter put up the crown molding. He has a (fairly well-done) seam partly along one wall, but he also has a long piece of crown molding left over. I wonder if he was a little too frugal with the stuff and was supposed to attach the long piece so there wouldn't be any seams. Not sure this is worth a do-over - I'd prefer no seams, but this one isn't bad, and I'm not sure I like the way the finish was done on the leftover piece. OMG, these details. They can kill you. Anyway, have to run to the apartment and re-organize. The appliances are being delivered between 7:15am and 10:15am and the carpenter left his tools all over the living room floor where the appliances are supposed to go... Sigh.

Document all the chances that you have given him to fix things (by email), and then fire him. Ask for all your money back and don't let him back in your house. If you gave him a key, take it back and consider changing your locks. If he leaves stuff/materials in your house, put them out by the curb and tell him he has 24 hours to pick everything up before it goes in the trash. Save all your emails/texts and take lots more pictures (peel back the layers and take pictures as you re-demo), so that you have something to show the judge if he sues you or you sue him. Get his home and/or business address so you can serve papers if you later choose to do so. Take pictures of his truck and license plate to ease location later if needed. Consider a hard counseling of your bf to not hire any more workers. I learned quite a bit by looking at his site, but I stopped there bc I know there are so many wrongly done things on YouTube.

Love the idea of beadboard in your vintage house bathroom. And, I’m still rooting for the subway tile in your kitchen for backsplash if you think it’s a manageable project for you and your wife together. I do think it’s an investment that will pay off if you do sell your house. Another idea I just had while looking at your kitchen pictures is, instead of subway tile, what about small sized hexagon tiles? When I looked up images of them I see that they are sheets of small hexagons - they’re attached to a netting. I wondered if they would be easier to manage with less cutting of tile pieces to fit around moldings and such. The look of them is somewhat vintage too and they are budget friendly also depending on the material. A simple white would work.
