Not replacing any of your hosta losses?
Comments (29)Earlier this year we had a "Gust Front" blow through, winds over 50 miles an hour and we lost three trees in the wooded fringe of the back yard. What will be my future hosta area as soon as I finish clearing out all the various vines and ground covers. As it turned out we also lost a fourth tree, a big hickory which provided the afternoon shade on my temporary bed of hostas. A very large crack was discovered leading down into the heart of the tree. So out it came and very quickly once discovered. So quickly that I didn't get a chance to cover my hostas. They were showered with sawdust mixed apparently with lube oil from the chain saws. Within a couple of days they were showing numerous damaged and dying leaves. The intense afternoon sun was no help either so now all my plants are in pots under the second story screen porch at the back of the house getting early morning sun. They are a sad looking bunch right now but even the Fire and Ice which is a 3rd year plant with three eyes had a second flush in the last few weeks of cooler temps. I'm going to keep them in pots for the foreseeable future. My wife has recently developed a debilitating health problem so I just don't have time to mess with them. Life is turning out to be a lot like war...no plan survives contact with the enemy....See MoreIs this a strange design?
Comments (7)Yours is easier to clean under than the inspiration piece, although that piece has toe kicks under the lower parts. You probably don't see many pieces designs like the inspiration because many people use standard vanities with standard designs, and/or want to maximize storage and have easy access to the plumbing underneath. The plumbing in this situation has to be in very specific positions to work with the drawers I am assuming. If you don't mind the extra work keeping the floor clean underneath and a bit of lost storage, I think it's fine. I thinks sometimes there is an issue of too much storage in vanities, it leads to an accumulation of junk. I look at a lot of real estate, and I've seen one drawer used for the important stuff and the rest crammed with expired cosmetics, over the counter stuff and random bits and pieces of stuff like broken blow dryers and empty containers more times than I can count....See MoreNeed help ASAP! Exterior update needed before loss of insurance
Comments (18)My spouse has been in insurance for over 13 years and knows the laws and regulations and is licensed in 45 states. But the exterior was up to code other than a panel along the bottom on the side of the driveway and it was that way when we moved in and so we did not change it. in 2017 the 10 month notice was to difficult to have all the work done as we lost my spouses income completely and the medical treatment bill was $500,000.00 and that was top priority to save my spouse's life. So yes the home got put second. Our state told we do not qualify for any assistance as they would take my spouse's prior income into account. I was able to find a family member that is willing to help with the siding, but said we will have to buy the materials and his crew can handle the installation for labor the cost is $5500.00 I am hoping that is not too steep. We will now just have to figure what supplies for the exterior we will want to upgrade the home as if we are going to put money in, we want to make it worth it....See MoreI’m at a loss of words.
Comments (54)I would never stray from the installation details of an appliance. If something should happen, you could void the warranty and not be covered. The problem here starts with the kitchen designer and the internet. Then trickles down to you , the GC, the countertop people. There are alot of hands in this problem. You cannot install this cooktop the way the wolf ones do. The "side" of the cooktop is not thick enough - you can see it in the picture you posted That is a lip - it is on the sides and the back. It is meant to sit on top of the countertop. Was this cooktop not installed when they templated?? The only other option you MIGHT have is to go out and purchase a Wolf cooktop. BUT a Wolf sticks out as well You have it bumped forward - I do not know if you can just push the Wolf back either. So sorry you are dealing with this now. This should have been dealt with before the cabinets were even ordered....See Morebichonbabe
