Garden too wet & maters need planting, need advice, PLEASE!!
Comments (6)Oh when it rains it pours! After having a good hot day and only a 30% chance of rain forecasted, I though we would get a dry day under our belt. No such luck. This evening we got another storm, putting down another 8/10 tenths of rain. Dave, your advice is spot on, but when it rains this much and just about every single day, I canÂt even do what you suggest. I can do what Anney suggested. I have lots of 5 quart ice cream pails that I can cut the bottom out of and fill with planting mix. At this time it seems that may be my only viable option. Do you guys think I should forego putting my black plastic down? The positive thing about not putting the plastic down is; less walking around in the garden, therefore less compaction. The negatives are; soil not as warm, having to deal with weeds and isnÂt this next one ironic. Having the plastic down would keep the soil moist should the summer turn to be very dry. I guess after typing this out it seems that it would be best to put the black plastic down. I am including a picture of one of the ice cream buckets with the bottom cut out, to get some thoughts as to whether or not if they would do the job. Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it. David...See MoreNeed Advice on Cleaning Shower
Comments (3)Assuming this is soap/hardwater...I know where you are coming from...Can you get some of it to lift if you scrape with your fingernail? I got so upset, after trying so many things. I didn't know what the previous owner had used but it left a mess. On desperation, (and without DH knowledge;) I bought the finest grit sandpaper sponge that I could find and with a 'what the heck' attitude, tried it. That was to get most of it off. Turns out it prolly was just a build up of soap/hard water. I then went over and over and over it with a wet microfiber "miracle cloth". This took several days because my arms and shoulders tired. You wouldn't believe the "drag" the cloth had and the crud that the cloth lifted.. If you use a LOT of elbow grease, it will come off. I know everyone that reads this will tell you not to do it, but I was to the point of replacing if I didn't get the crud off. I worked for me. Comments (3)lukkiirish, so far, there's no sign of mold (sight or smell). I'm guessing the water leaks were long ago, and then the floor just gave in, so it's probably not wet now. kudzu9, one contractor said he would pull everything out, rebuild the shower in concrete and tile (it's just one of those ready-made things at present), for $6k. My KD looked at it, measured it, but has turned a blind eye to it every since, so he probably doesn't want to go near it. DD has the camera at university, but I want my own to photograph my almost finished kitchen, so maybe I'll just spring for a little one soon :) Thanks again for all the advice....See MoreConverting 1988 bathtub to shower. Comments (7)You could do a simple 12" deep bench although 14 - 16 would be more comfortable. Do you want a bench? If not, you can just frame out the wall and make the shower smaller, do a tile base and get a stock size door. It may cost less than custom glass. I would also suggest getting a contractor in there or plumber to see if there is a way to turn those pipes into the floor and then reconnect them so you can have the full shower....See Morepetrushka (7b)
