Does Rogue Valley Roses do this alot?
Comments (50)May 15, 2017 - I'm posting this as many places as I can to warn people. Apparently RVR is under new management and they just stole $32 of my money. Details follow. AVOID ROGUE VALLEY ROSES, NEW MANAGEMENT DISHONEST. I've had excellent experiences with Rogue Valley Roses in the past. However, they are under new management and they just stole $32 of my money. To be precise, I ordered two roses this spring, they were healthy and grew well, but when they bloomed, it became obvious that one of them had been mislabelled - they accidentally sent the wrong rose. No big deal, just send me the right rose or refund my money. I sent three emails, got no response whatsoever, so I went to phone calls. Got a man who never gave me his name and wasn't particularly polite, made it clear he didn't really want to be bothered. He told me the company was under new management, they'd been backlogged and were struggling to catch up and would get to my issues as soon as they could. I waited a week, nothing, so I called back. Same again. Last week, after three emails and three phone calls, I told the guy I wanted my money and I wanted it within three days, no more postponements. He said, "Okay, I'll use PayPal and send you an instantaneous transfer so you can have it right this minute." I said fine. But, it's been three days and the money isn't in my account. So I called back and he said, very self righteous, "I refunded your money last week." But he didn't. I don't have the money. I even logged into PayPal to see if anything was being held in PayPal rather than put in my bank account. Looks like Rogue Valley Roses has stolen $32 of my money....See MoreAnybody have experience with Sharkbite connectors?
Comments (49)We had a plumber come out to give an estimate to fix a leaky toilette and a leak in a basement ceiling. He wanted $1,100 to fix two leaks with the toilette being about $400. I did get some lower offers for about $300 to $400, but even at that, I have several more things to fix and at that rate it was going to be pretty costly. And I've read some other people's here and their prices are pretty high. Like $180 for ONE outdoor faucet. Before trying shark bite, or gator bites, I taught my self to weld pipes with a torch and solder etc. I did a couple and was pretty proud of it and saved like $400 for a water heater pipe repair. The reason I didn't try the shark bite at that point is that I couldn't find them near by so tried using the torch that time a year back or so. But now this week I noticed shark and gator bites at Lowes and Home Depot and decided to try them out. I had to go to both stores since some parts were sold out. I used it to replace the outdoor faucet with a washerless, ball faucet in the front of the house And was amazed. IT WORKED! And even though I knew how to use a torch, felt like it was easier. Besides I would have had to put something flame retardant in the basement to weld because there are wooden beams there. Or at least spray with water. But now I didn't even have to worry about it. I only had to cut the pipe in the basement, and use a gator bite coupling and push the two pipes together. Then I did the same for the faucet by screwing it onto a shark bite part and then pushing it onto the pipe. It was easy. I was worried about it leaking, but I've checked and no leaks. Not even a drip. Nothing. It sealed perfectly. Now tomorrow, I am going to replace the other out door faucet on the back of the house. No more miserable, leaking 20 year old faucet. And now I have 3 or 4 more repairs I've been putting off all lined up. Over all, I like Shark Bites. You can also get Gator Bites at Lowes or other places....See MoreHudson Valley Gardeners
Comments (81)My goodness Jack, that's some very serious weather you are having. I did not know you were in the tornado belt. I hope your property and family are all alright. Never heard of Untermyer gardens. Just looked them up and they are gorgeous! Thank you for the tip, I will make a point of visiting them this summer. I'm less than two hours from there. Has anyone here ever grown the large variety of San Marzano tomatoes? I am wondering if they are truly like heirloom San Marzano's. I'm planning on growing more of those this season. Sad to say I am not planting from seed this year. I have to create a set up with more light and ventilation than what I had last year which killed all my poor leggy tomato seedlings....See MoreYour recent experiences with Hortico?
Comments (80)Thanks Cindi for the info. I have 2 Nahema on Hortico waiting list along with 6-8 other roses for next year. I didn't know they had it all these time. When I placed my 1st order, there was none. I will wait for next year since it's getting late for rare boot roses. Good luck with yours. I got a Nehema from Ludwigs 5-6 weeks ago. I think my zone 6a garden is too cold for it after hearing one of my friends in NC zone 7 lost hers this spring, I am growing mine in a pot now. Good luck with your Nahema, it's a beautiful rose indeed. :-)...See Morebayarea_girl_z10a_ca
