Engineered Vinyl Plank (EVP) vs. Luxury Vinyl Plank vs Engineered Hard
Comments (24)@V M sorry, just seeing your post above. We are just now finally breaking ground on our home so I don't have pics of the flooring to show you from my house. I will come back and post when I do but that will be some months from now. But we are paying, I think, 15K for our Multi-Length Rigid Core SPC floors in color Sandhill. Our house will be 2975 sf and this floor covering will be throughout the home, except in 3 of the full baths and the utility room. I'm not exactly sure how many square feet that leaves but hopefully you can do some rough math. Everything goes through my builder so I don't have an exact price per square foot to provide you. I also am not sure if this includes labor to install....See MoreLuxury vinyl plank floors impossible to keep clean. Any advice?
Comments (46)I preface this reply by saying that it may step on some toes and is not for the easily offended... Think of your floor cleaning like your teeth cleaning: you can brush, floss, and gargle on your own to your heart's delight. But at the end of the day, it can't replicate the cleaning performed by a hygienist in the dentist office. In other words, you need to have a professional cleaning company periodically clean your vinyl floors. I know, most of you DYIers had it installed to get away from carpet, tile, and other flooring that has traditionally required professionals to maintain. Truth is, you DO NOT own the equipment needed to get these floors, particularly the ones with a textured profile, completely clean like they were prior to install. And while the flooring companies didn't outright lie to you (calling it low maintenance rather than no maintenance), they certainly led you astray by letting you to believe that a little hot water or their overpriced, product-specific cleaner was all you needed. So, find a reputable local cleaner to professionally clean your LVP floors. Got kids and dogs? Do you go barefoot or wear outdoor shoes in the house? Get your floors professionally cleaned every single year. The rest of you? Every 2-3 years. In the meantime, stop using steam. Stop using acidic (vinegar) and high ph (ammonia) products. Dump the bleach, Murphy's Oil Soap, Rejuvenate, Bona, Mop n Glow, Orange Glo, and all types of polishes. Only use a neutral cleaner in between professional cleanings. Oh, and those area rugs you put down to cover up the unsightliness of your floors? They're likely voiding your flooring warranty (probably not a big deal because many have already done so with their unapproved cleaning methods and lifestyle)....See MoreLions Floor Luxury Vinyl Plank?
Comments (52)@HU-796072056 Hello! I chose the bambino because of the color I was looking for, the budget, the low foot traffic in my house. I have no kids or pets in the house. I was aware of it being 5.5mm. For more peotection, I recommend 7.7mm+. I’ve had my first incident where I dropped a knive on the kitchen, by accident, and it hit the floor with the sharp point and it made a small cut. I realized it’s very thin. I’ve placed area rugs where I spend more time doing things and could drop object by accident :). I’m clumpsy! Also, all my furniture have protection to avoid damage when moving them. Like anything, it‘s just taking care of it. I do have to say, if I do it again, i would demolish the old floors in the whole house and then be able to place the planks on the floor before installing since some of the knots are too close together. the installees where going room by room and i was able to be here. it would have been more days of installation and at that point I let it go. The installers tried, but it was hard since the plank design repeat every 10 planks and have an open floor plan. if you get a chance, tell your installers (if not you) to place them on the floor ahead of installation that way you can avoid that. keep that in mind in case you need extra days. My installers were not designers. Now I know:)....See MoreMalibu Wide Plank Luxury Vinyl Plank- Pictures
