What should I do to this room to make it usable?
Comments (2)Compactible fill followed by a vapor barrier if required in your area. 6" x "6" wire mesh, followed by concrete. You can tie it all in to the existing by drilling 5/8" holes every 24" about half the depth of the slab, all around the perimeter, inserting 3/8" rebar epoxying it in to the existing about a foot and leave a foot hanging out. This will also give you something to tie the 6" x 6" mesh into helping to hold it up off the compacted grade. In the field you can get small concrete blocks to hold the mesh up before the pour....See Morewhat should I do with this sitting room?
Comments (12)What colr are you planning for all the floors in the house since IMO they all need to be the same.BTW you can have all those vintage parts ans still have a modern home. This was 1905 house we actually put back the trim and redid the ceilings to match what had been removed. But I had no intention of living in a 1905 style.I would leave the FP for now and just do the floors then find the furniture you like for the space . That front door needs to be changed for sure if modern is what you want I love the doors going into the space...See MoreWhat should I do with this room? Need advice!!
Comments (8)Too much of a good thing. Not a good idea to get rid of the rug and add a wood plank look floor on top of the wood walls and ceiling. I would leave the carpet, and maybe get something interesting as an area rug to put on top for grouping around the fireplace if you really, really need something else on the floor. I have that set up in my family room, works fine and is great in cold winter on feet. I'd paint the walls or ceilings but not both. Why pay all that money for real wood and then not enjoy it at least a little. A little you might enjoy, it's just too much right now . . . And cuddle up with your furniture placement!! Do you like monochrome? If not, add some pops of color . . . if you like monochrome, then add some variations of natural colors with natural materials like metal and woven materials and some fabrics . . . something to contrast against all that wood . . ....See MoreOpen sun room/living room problems
Comments (13)I love @ratherbeatthebeach suggestion to move the white shelves under the TV and put the rattan bookcase where the white shelves are now. I was thinking the same thing. If it were me, I'd find another home for the filing cabinet thing in the sunroom and go for low furniture that doesn't block the windows. I would definitely put at least one or maybe two chairs in the sunroom with a side table for coffee / tea / whatever beverage. I love @lisedv Ikea rattan chair suggestion. And then I love @lisedv mockups with lining the room with plants using plant stands and pots on the floor. Alternatively you could put a low bench or two under a window to use as a plant stand. What a pretty space you'll have. I love your rug and sofa combination....See MoreChristopher Stuart
