Damaged furniture that are forgotten to be picked up after exchange

I purchased 8 of $90 dining chairs. The delivery people found the damage on 2 chairs after opening the packages and re-ordered new chairs immediately. New chairs were delivered after a week and no body showed up to pick up the damaged chairs for 7 months, so I threw them away. The furniture company suddenly started calling me 5 or 6 times a day to schedule to pick up those damage chairs. After I told them that I threw them away, they said that I still have to pay for them if I can't returned them. Do I need to pay for them?
