Looking for ideas for closet in open foyer
Comments (12)We have something similar across our front entrance. It is finished with Oak hardwood, same as the floors. I struggled for yrs. trying to figure out what to put there. I finally decided on three tall slim vases made from tin, imported from India I think, got them at Tuesday Morning. these are at one end and at the other end is a very large metal decorative plate about 24 inches across. I'll try to post pics for you. Also at Christmas time I make a scene of Byers Choice carolers up there. It always looks great....See MoreNeed help decorating my foyer
Comments (3)I am also getting rid of the seat I used to have a mirror on wall but wanted to change things up. Is there anything I could put on that curved wall. Also what to put on top of the antique stand I just put that dish there tonight but it looks lonely...See MoreISO-perfect pillow for lonely foyer chair
Comments (20)Oh wow thank you all! So many options for the blue boy! I do think a lumbar pillow is the best option. @salonva the chair is a little big for the corner I know. But I am happy with it there. @Donna T the artist is Kanayo Ede. He has an Etsy shop I believe-I purchased through Robert Kent gallery in Georgia. Here it is full frame. Loverly. Here is Mary (from the Christmas song “Mary Did You Know”). She reflects in that mirror as I exit my bedroom straight in front of the chair. She is from artist Dan Campbell. I’m off to look at some fabulous pillows! Thanks again!...See MoreHELP! Foyer decorating ideas …
Comments (19)Think about your budget for this. Large light fixtures can get pretty pricey, painting will need scaffolding and then there’s the paneling. (I personally struggle with replacing ‘perfectly good’ anything so I’m always looking for retrofits that make it work in a new way. Sustainability.) You can ‘panel’ by adding 1/4” thick pre-painted lathe in the configuration you like (squares/rectangles or board and batten), caulking and painting with a semi-gloss to match the rest of your trim. https://www.younghouselove.com/?s=board+and+batten Your light fixture probably (?) has a reasonable size and total wattage and it looks like it could handle the addition of a shade. I would lengthen the chain and drop the fixture in line with the second floor in the space between the upper window and the door. If you want a drum shade, you might check a site like www.fenchel.com and call and see what type of attachment might work for a custom sized shade that could be added over the fixture. They make them self adhesive so you could add any paper or fabric you might like to the exterior. Pebeo Gilding Wax is a great way to add gold highlights to anything. This would be something to do when the scaffolding is up for painting. Once all that’s done, you might find you don’t need a large art piece on the wall. If you do, look at www.art.com or some other reproduction site that will custom size prints or glicees. On the other hand, if you really want a new light fixture, I’ve used www.shadesoflight.com or www.1-800lighting.com or Home Depot or Lowes or even Amazon. Just follow the size recommendations in the Spruce article. I couldn’t find something that hit all of your thoughts — which is why I pointed you to Fenchel....See Moresableincal
